Any chance at Berkeley?

i say ur chance is not very high...about 30% chance of getting in.

I don't know... a 6th rank in a school of 805 is very, very strong. Is your school one of the state's identified underperforming schools? In 2002, roughly 400 students were admitted with SAT scores of under 1000, but they had excelled at their schools. Are you an ELC candidate, by any chance?

I couldn't understand you, but did you say you got a 4 in APUSH and the rest 1 and 2's? That is going to really hurt you when you consider the background information you need to know in Chemistry and the importance of Calculus with Physics. Are you sure you want to go into Physics? Your numbers don't add up...

What can you do now? I'd suggest working more on your writing skills and consider taking the SAT I again, not because it's necessary for you to raise your scores, but because you want to let Berkeley know that you can handle writing at the university level. I'd consider studying for the Math IIC exam some more and possibly retaking it. These are math concepts that should be a given if you plan to pursue a Physics major, so you'd be working with it anyhow and getting an early start at reworking the basics and fundamentals will help you during admissions, as well as when you hit college.

For your essays, work closely with an English teacher and revise, revise, revise until you get it just right. I went through six drafts until I was finally pleased, and my teacher was more than willing to help me out! Do your best, and I'd say you'd have a decent shot at Berkeley. You are one of those "iffy" candidates that only the admissions office can have the final say on, and it's difficult for most people on these boards to understand your unique situation, but I'm sure things will work out in the end. You are a fine candidate. Best of luck,
