Chances??

GPA: 4.1 W, 3.8 UW
Demanding schedule: total of 8 APs by graduation
Not sure about rank, but in top 15%
ACT: 32
SAT: 1990, but will retake
EC: President of theatre department and an extracurricular theatre group, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, active in First Priority, regular community service and multiple service mission trips

Plan to major in theatre, so most ECs are performing related..about 25 hours of rehearsal, voice, or dance a week.

Any shot at all?

Let me know if more info is needed.

Any shot? YEs.
But use the ACT, because your SAT will surely not help.
Do you have scores in SAT Subject TEsts and APs already taken?

AP’s-yes, but they aren’t very good- English Lit 4, USH 3, Physics…2  Major disappointment, not sure what happened.

I plan to take Lit and Math II subject tests in October. NU will likely be the only school I apply to that recommends them.

Because the Theater program is so well regarded, I would apply. Your AP scores and SAT IIs are not your strong suits, however…as you know. You may wish to have your theater teacher write one of the LORs. You have worked hard, both academically and your Theater ECs–pat yourself on the back! FYI-The program only takes 50 girls/50 guys.

YOu’re right - do not report those AP scores to NU. They will not help.

Another question-if I end up not doing will on SAT II’s, is it better to report them anyway or not? Also, will I be at a disadvantage if I send ACT but not SAT I?

My understanding…ACT or SAT—your choice–no advantage of one over the other in admissions. I would wait to see how you did on the SAT II’s before electing to send them.
G’Luck! ~APOL
