i’m probably not the best person to judge but i think it could go either way. i’m applying to elon too! what deadline are you applying for? (ED/EA/RD)

i hope he does! haha. i guess i’ll find out in december if i get in or not. waiting is the hardest part haha.
i’m applying to the university of miami (#1 choice), fordham university, drexel university, high point university, and the university of tampa.
what about you?

elon is my #1 choice (i’m applying ED) but i’m also applying to the university of miami, high point, uconn (in-state), james madison and college of charleston. looks like we have similar tastes in schools!

Did you mean to say that your writing SAT score was 500 (you wrote 50)? If so, then your three part SAT scores are 1580 and your GPA is 3.5. On Elon’s website it says that the middle 50 percent of Elon’s freshmen had a GPA of 3.5 to 4.0+ and three part SAT of 1740-1960. Your SAT scores are a little low, but remember that 25% of the freshmen have less than 1740. I think you have a reasonable chance of being accepted, yes. Good luck!

i meant 580 haha. math is clearly not my best subject. i took the SATs and ACTs this month but i still haven’t gotten my scores but hopefully i raised them. i’m really good at school but i’m terrible at standardized tests, which sucks in the college admissions process. i’m really upsets that i might be denied in some schools because of that.
but thanks! i really hope so. and i applied EA so maybe that will help.

I don’t know if that’s a weighted or unweighted GPA. I understand that Elon recalculates GPAs using a 6 point scale…where, for example, an A in a “regular” class is a 4.0, an A in an “honors” class is a 5.0, and an A in an AP class is 6.0. When recalculated that way, many GPAs go way up, to something over a 4.0; but if Elon reports their admittance stats using the recalculated GPAs, it’s a bit misleading (and scary!) since it makes it looks like most of their admits have higher than a 4.0 GPA and apparently that’s scared off some potential applicants. So, I suspect what they now list as middle 50% of 3.5 - 4.0, is more a reflection of whatever the applicants’ high schools actually report, whether weighted or unweighted. Basically, from what I can gather, you’d need to have at least a B/B+ sort of average to be accepted, and more like an A-/A average to get merit aid or get into the Fellows program.

HOWEVER, all of this is just my own speculation and what I’ve gathered from reading CC and other internet sites. It might be way off base. I’m sure the Admissions office could tell you the real facts.

kierans, thanks for the help! I have one more question, on the requirements for the Fellows program when it says students with a GPA of a 3.7+ are encouraged to apply, is the 3.7 weighted or unweighted (if you know)?

Sorry, I have no idea about the requirements for the Fellows program. You should give the Admissions Office a call. I’m sure they can answer your questions. They seem very friendly and approachable there. Good luck!

I applied to Elon ED and am soooo anxious for December 1st to get here, so I was hoping someone could tell me if they think I may get in or not…

soooo, is it looking grim or do I have a chance anywhere??
Elon is my #1 and the ONLY school I can see myself going to, so any input would be helpful. thank you!

thank you sooo much for the input, kierans! I’m really scared about it. I’ve looked at so many colleges and Elon seems like the only fit for me, but I was afraid about my SAT being sort of low and my EC’s/Community Service, so I was hoping that the fact that I chose to apply ED would help me some.

do you honestly honestly HONESTLY think that I stand a chance with all my credentials? I need reassurance badly!
