Changing High Schools for Senior Year?

So right now I'm at Catholic school, if I change from Catholic school to my public school how would colleges interpret this? The pros of it are that 1.transferring my grades I'd go from number 8 at my current school to top 5 at public school, 2.the classes are easier and I'd bascially get straight A+s so I'd be 1 or 2 by the end of the year, 3.I could start on all the varsity sports teams cuz im not quite good enough at my current school which draws from like 80 towns, and 4.i would be around all of the really good friends ive grown up with since pre-k and just have a fun senior year without as much stress as i have at catholic school. The cons are that 1.i would have less APs and im guessing colleges would know that it is an easier school so my A+s wouldnt be worth as much, 2.im not sure how teacher recs would work, 3.I'm basically in line to be in a few leadership positions at the school im at-debate, latin honor society (theres another con my public school doesnt have latin which is my best subject), school paper- and my public school doesnt have too many clubs/activities...........
Anything else I should consider???

I’m in the same boat you’re in. My high school closed down last year, so now I’m attending a charter school. I would have been capt. of my soccer team again, but alas I transferred and I was just any other player :frowning: I was the bench warmer for basketball at my old school, but my new is so bad that I’m starting…go figure. Meeting new people isn’t bad since I joined the clubs. And yeah, this school is way easier than my previous. I had the option to transfer to another Catholic school, but my parents figure one year of cupcake academics wouldn’t hurt me, and saved a money -_-

You will need to be prepared to explain to top colleges why you made this transfer. “The school is easier,” “I’ll be ranked higher,” and “I wanted to be around my old friends,” are not the kind of reasons top colleges will like. “I wanted a chance to play varsity basketball” is a better reason, but still not a great one if the public school is known to be less rigorous than the Catholic school.

If you had to make this change for financial reasons, I’d say don’t worry about it, colleges will understand. But I think changing for the reasons you cite won’t look good.

I moved from a college prep school to a 5a public school my senior year (this year). My reason was because I moved, but I didn’t see any effect when it came to applying to colleges. I think you will be fine. I didn’t have to explain it, and it didn’t matter. The fact that your new school will be easier means that you will have to get almost perfect scores to prove that you’re still working just as hard. Join clubs and have fun! I’m sure you’ll get into wherever you apply! Goodluck!

You should definitely leave. You’ll become gay if you aren’t already.
And you’ll become pregnant like those guys in St. Louis.
