How would I go about changing my major from something in the College of Arts and Sciences to a major in the College of Engineering? I'm an incoming freshman, and I've been planning to change for a while, but apparently there are Intro to Engineering courses that are best taken freshman year (?) that I'd hate to be behind in.

My current schedule is all general ed stuff, so I could probably stick with what I have for this fall, but I don't want to end up a full year behind in engineering courses.

Call Admissions and they can help you or at least guide you to the right place.

I changed my major before coming in and that’s what I did. I went and talked to Admissions at Scholar’s Day and they just went ahead and changed it for me. I do remember them allowing you to change at Orientation, but I assume you’ve probably been to Orientation already.

You might also want to check with Cross-Campus Advising. [Cross Campus Advising | Student Success Center](http://www.sa.sc.edu/ssc/ccaa/) That actually might be a good place to start, since you’ve already gone through advising and Orientation.

You could go ahead and try signing up for Engineering courses that are necessary as a freshman. Things like Chemistry and Math aren’t specific to major and you shouldn’t have a problem getting dropped from those for being the “wrong” major. Also with Engineering 101 (I think), you could just tell the professor if they ask that you’re planning on majoring in that and are still being processed.
