My daughter applied and got accepted into LSA. She has changed direction since she submitted her application and now wants to go into engineering. Is it possible to change major now (before admission) or does she have to wait after the first year and apply for cross-campus transfer? Any insight is very much appreciated.
Nope not happening. But the advantage of Michigan they make it pretty straightforward and easy
Your first year curriculum doesn’t really change either
Just take these classes and do well in them. Before Feb 1st you submit your application with another essay
Let your counsler know this during your orientation. You could always call engineering and ask but never heard them changing it prior.

Make sure she signs up for the mandatory engineering introductory classes for her first semester. She does not want to be left behind. Same with the math sequence for Calc, and Physics, which are required for all engineers. As long has she has a minimum GPA in LSA(I believe it is a 3.0) and completes the proper paperwork, the process is very easy.
Engineering really takes care of their students, I have a son who is graduating this semester from ChemE, and the student support for him has been outstanding.
