Hi, Im a bay area transfer student who applied UC Berkley for this year, majoring in Applied Mathematics. During the course of this spring semester after I applied to Berkeley, I have changed my mind to change my intended major, which is Applied Mathematics, into Operation Research and Management Science("ORMS"), once I get into UC Berkeley in this fall semester.
I just read the prerequisite for ORMS major, which is to say A minimum of 3.20 GPA is required for the following courses: Economics 1 or 2 or 3, Math 53 and 54, and Business Administration 10.
In order to change my major, Im taking all the prerequisite classes for ORMS major this spring semester except the Business Administration 10 (because my community college doesnt have this class).
My issue is that Ive gotten all 4.0 GPA for Econ1, Econ2, and Math 53. But for Math 54, which Im taking this semester, I might possibly get a B from this differential equation class. In this case, will my chances be completely closed because the grade B is not over 3.2 according to the prerequisite?

If you give me any piece of advice for this issue, declaring the major, I would really appreciate about your help.
Thank you

if you get into berkeley to get into orms as a transfer you’ll have to put yourself on the waitlist. after a semester they’ll email you saying you can now apply. They will look at your coursework in the ORMS prereqs and upper divs like stat 134 and ieor 160 etc. Since its capped they’re probably going to disregard your gpa in the prereqs from CCC and just look at how you do in the ORMS upperdiv prereqs at berkeley. You will probably need around a 3.5+ to get in since its so impacted. The econ major is also capped and they don’t care if you got a 4.0 in all the prereqs from CCC because they only look at your performance in the first semester econ upper div prereqs.

I was initially going to do ORMS and put myself on the waitlist but i got into econ so i decided to just stick with it since it gave me more freedom and the IEOR class i was taking for ORMS was pretty bad. Many of the teachers can barely speak english since they’re international grad students from asia.
