I’m finishing up my Associates in Mathematics this semester at a local CC. I’m considering transferring to either Baylor, A&M or Univerisity of Houston in the spring. I originally wanted to continue in Mathematics and pursue a Bachelors in that, but I’m leaning more towards engineering again. Baylor doesn’t really have any class requirements for transfer students, but A&M and UH do. I meet the course requirements for the math degrees at these schools, but not any of the engineering degrees because I have not taken Physics 1. Would anyone happen to know if it possible to change degrees once you’ve been accepted into either of these schools under a specific degree? I’ve looked online so many times and I can’t find a definite answer. Any help would be great. Thanks
Are you able to take Physics 1 prior to applying to these schools? If so, I think that’s what you should consider doing.
However, if you can’t, I suggest you call A&M/UH and inquire about changing majors after you transfer.
I would take it, but then I wouldn’t be able to apply to transfer anywhere until next fall. This will be my fourth year in college but I’m just getting my Associates, so I really don’t want to put off transferring any longer.
If you haven’t taken Physics 1, you are most likely looking at four years to get an engineering degree. Do you want to spend another four years in undergrad? Once you transfer, your tuition costs go up, so if you have to start wth year 1 engineering prerequisite classes, it’s actually better to stay at the community college and get them done more cheaply there.
