Question about Transfer

Hi people.

I am a sophomore who is transferring to the biomedical engineering department here at Texas A&M.... hopefully.

See, a couple of days ago my first choice major was changed from biomedical engineering to engineering (general). After searching on this forum, I saw that this was not a good sign.

I called the admissions department up to see how they see this. At the applications processing dept., one lady commented that probably I don't have all my category D prereq's done so they changed my major to general engineering. however, they do not really know, so they transferred me to one of the admissions counselors.

When the adcom answered the phone, she told me that I could be changed to general engineering for a number of reasons. and there's no room for the major I specified came up as one of them.

However, I do not see how my stats do not qualify me for the BME program here.
I have a 3.42 overall GPA, 14 credits taken from my college and I have about 50 credits from AP credits earned in high school.

AP courses:
Chemistry
Physics C Mechanics
US History
English language and composition
US government
psychology
Macroeconomics
Calculus BC

Courses from college:
Physics Mechanics(decided to retake it again)
Intro to medical anthropology
Calculus III
An Introductory writing course

SAT scores
Math: 740
CR:600

HS class rank (doubt this is concentrated in transfer admissions)
15 (out of 420)
The only course that I don't have is the Physics E&M course from that required list of courses. However, I am taking that course right now. So if I passed the course with the qualified score, I could ask them to take a look at my app again right?

What did you get on the Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus BC tests? They might only accept 4 or 5; I would call them again tomorrow and ask about this. Here is a list of what BME requires:

Perhaps the writing course is not equivalent to the one required?

You must also understand that GPA is not the only factor in admissions. Just like incoming freshmen, essay, organizations, extra activities, and such are also considered. I would also like to add that BME is most likely the most competitive engineering program at A&M.
