I heard that it's not very good since CSE is impacted. But its easier to transfer from CSE to EE.

But if I want to change my major, how do I do it? Just call? Email?

change-of-major requests are handled by your college, pending departmental approval. so start with the college's academic advising office.

but my bets are on that they'll tell you to wait until you get to UCSD as an enrolled student -- they've got their hands full enough with current students (and graduation activities, given the season) as it is.

i changed majors already. all i did was send back that confirmation paper i received after i originally sent in my application with the changes i wanted on it

i changed from computer science to cognitive science

Arctic, can you be more specific? Was this via email or regular mail? THANKS!

Changing to CSE may be kinda hard because its impacted. And its usually not as simple as submitting a change-of-major form. You should probably contact a the CSE department or an academic adviser about changing into it...

it was via regular mail. after you applied the UC's sent a confirmation letter saying that the colleges had received your application, i sent this in with the changes handwritten on it around january to all the colleges i wanted changed before i found out if i was accepted or not.

im not sure if the process is the same after you are already accepted, but i would call your college and find out

You can easily change your major by e-mail if your switching to a nonimpacted major. If it is impacted, as is your case, you will have to wait till you get to UCSD and do the paper work.

if you want to switch into an impacted major, is it still possible? under what conditions would they let you do this?

actually, change of major requests are handled by the registrar, at least thats how it is with registered students. you sign the change of major form or w/e and submit it to the registrar.
