I was admitted to UCLA's HSSEAS college and i'm not sure if i'm going to stick with my intended major of chemical engineering. I was just wondering how difficult it would be to change majors to something along the lines of biology-related majors in the L&S college.

PS. i cant find any info on changing majors from engineering to L&S on CC, only the opposite. if its a repeated thread, sorry to start a new one

My nephew is graduating from UCLA Chemical Engineering. He got a job offer last year. He will start his new job in June. Therefore, Chemical Engineering is not a bad choice. However, changing major is not too difficult, but you may want to think what you want to be.

I actually just did that. My major was computer science & engineering and I switched into Neuroscience. IT’S A PAIN IN THE BUTT.
First, you’ll need to make an appointment with a counselor from the department in which you want to switch. For me, it was alll the way in Gonda. That counselor will, assuming you’ve met your major requirement, sketch out a 4-year plan.
The next day you get up bright and early and travel to Murphy hall to set up your same-day appointment. (The LS office opens at 8:30). After you have your slip you return that same day at the appropriate time and wait in the lobby for your counselor to call you. That counselor will go over the requirements and hand you some papers that you need to fill out. Essentially it’s like that 4-year plan…but in a different color. After filling that out you go back to that department to get some signatures from that first counselor + the actual petition to change majors. You return to Murphy and submit these at the office. It should take 5-10 days to officially process.
