Hi everyone,
I am a new freshman admit at the University of Texas at Austin. I was admitted as a Philosophy major, but recently decided that I much rather switch over to Economics. Since both majors are in the College of Liberal Arts, how would I go about changing majors? Would I be able to do it at orientation?
Thank you in advance!

According to this you can do it at orientation. They are not too specific about how. You may want to call in advance to make sure you do it correctly if no one answers you here.
@IJustWantInMan did you call the College of Liberal Arts? I would start there. Asking people on CC won’t really answer your question.
@IJustWantInMan You are going to be a student at UT in the College of Liberal Arts. You should call them as I advised you to 3 days ago. You have waited 3 days and you are no closer to your answer. You can’t be successful at UT if you are afraid to call and ask a question as basic as this. It is a very good question- don’t be afraid to ask the people who can answer it.
So I’m actually in the same position, and I just came back from orientation and I talked to advisers regarding this. Basically, for the first semester, you would go in as Philosophy major, but you take the same classes as an Econ major. Currently, this fall semester I’m taking Intro to Micro, and Calc 1 (You’re probably not required to take Calc, being a Phil major, so you have to take the ALEK exam and their math placement soon). Before spring semester, you would meet with an adviser from the Department of Economics and they’ll switch you over for spring semester.
