Changing majors

I need advice.

My situation. I am currently a computer engineering major and want to switch to computer science because financially I would be able to finish within 4 years and have a good gpa with C.S while in C.E I would most likely have to take another year which would cost more and most likely wouldn’t have a good gpa.

I am a 3rd year, and have been rejected for my petition because I need a 3.0 in all math and science, but currently have a 2.8. in my math and sciences. My cumulative is 3.08.

The response was not informative. Said rejected and will not review another petition. I don’t know what to do, because technically I could take all the c.s classes I need and have completed a C.S degree while being a C.E. I am going to talk to my counselor, but worst case scenario is that they cannot help.

Any advice? Should I suffer financially and gpa wise just to get this degree?

Since you did not name your school, others cannot help you with the specifics. But it is likely that they have a 3.0 math/science GPA requirement to change into the CS major because it is capacity-limited.

Job-wise, CS is a better degree than CE. Would you lose too many credits if you transferred to another school for CS?
