Hi, I'm a freshman at UT this year, and am currently a biomedical engineering major. However, I want to try and switch to becoming an accounting major. I have some class credit from APs (both Econs, Calc BC, and 4 Science courses), so i think I can skip at least some of the first year material for accounting.

Now, my question is this: how easily can i switch colleges (from Engineering to McCombs)? Right now, I think I still have the ability to add/drop classes (although I know I won't get many favorable class times). And do I need anything else to change my major?

You have to have like a 3.7 GPA by the end of the semester to switch. And I don't think they will let you take the AP credit for economics since its your major , not that you should anyways since McCombs classes are way harder than any crap high school class.

To switch, you have to apply for a transfer. It kind of works like college applications. There are due dates and they inform you I believe in the spring of whether you got in or not. You can probably take all of the accounting major classes (unless some are reserved strictly for people already in the business school.

If I may ask, why do you want out of biomedical engineering?

You should probably go see your advisor...they probably know a lot more than most of the people on college confidential. Most of us are high school kids.
