Switching from Engineering to Business

Can you still do that at this late time? I selected biomedical engineering and am a bit unsatisfied with this choice at UT. Can I still switch. Anyone have any experience in switching colleges at UT?

I doubt you can switch into business right now. Your best bet is to go into econ or a related major where you can take care of the business prerequisites for your first year and then try an internal transfer to McCombs for your sophomore year.

<a href="http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/udean/admissions/internal.asp%5B/url%5D">http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/udean/admissions/internal.asp</a></p>

Last year 68% of internal transfers were approved. In 2004 it was 82%. If you are a resident you need to shoot for a 3.7 GPA and if a nonresident you should get a 3.8 to be competitive.

"After spring grades are complete, all applicants are ranked in two categories: non-residents (out-of-state, foreign) and Texas residents. Each category is ranked by in-residence (UT classroom) grade point average. Placement (credit-by-exam), extension, transfer, and correspondence grades are not considered."

"No letters of recommendation, personal statements, or resumes are considered."

Another case of UT playing the numbers game, but if you stay focused your freshman year and do well, you have a pretty good shot at getting in.
