Changing schools/majors

I am an upcoming freshman for fall 2014. When applying, I only applied to one school, the college of nursing (NB) which I was admitted to. After a lot of thought, however, I decided that I want to do a pre med route and major in biology with a psych minor (SAS). Does anyone know how I could go about doing this? Do I have to apply to SAS? Should I go in as a nursing major and switch to SAS after the first semester? Will I have any problems doing this? If anyone has any information/experience with switching schools/majors please help me out!!

As far as I know, it’s a lot easier switching out of the nursing program than it is to transfer into it – the nursing program is competitive and has a limited number of seats whereas SAS is virtually unlimited.

I think you’d just need to log on to degree navigator (dn.rutgers.edu) to declare yourself a bio major (or whatever you choose). If you’re undeclared but you still definitely want to switch out of nursing, talk to a dean ASAP. Dont waste a semester in the nursing program if that’s not what you want, it moves at a much quicker pace than the SAS equivalent courses do
