Changing the Personal Essay on a Different App Version

Hi there, I've looked at different threads and contacted the common app support, but neither have provided an answer for my question.

I've created a separate version of my application so that I could update my ECs. I looked over my personal essay and realized that there were a few spots where I could revise it to make it flow more logically and increase the overall quality of the essay. However, I didn't change the topic of the essay or make any drastic changes.

However, in the common app above the personal essay it states, "Your Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges. Do not customize it in any way for individual colleges. Colleges that want customized essay responses will ask for them on a supplement form."

Basically my question is: If I create a slightly different version of the personal essay with some grammatical tweaks but no major thematic changes, and this essay is in no way customized to a particular college, can I upload the new revised essay to the alternate version or am I stuck using the original lesser quality essay?

Thanks in advance for any replies, and sorry for the long-winded post :P

Can you detail step-by-step how this is done?

Found the Answer!!
“Go to the Instructions and select “application versions” to create a new version. If you have colleges you want to move to the new version (only those you have not submitted yet), click to “remove” them, and it will give you the option to move them to another version. You cannot simply “update” the version you have already sent.”

My daughter wants to change the Common Application Essay. She sent it to her first school. But now realizes it would be better if it were modified in several ways before sending to other schools.

Do you know how is this done?

^bump!! does anyone else know if you can do this on the new commonapp?
