Chapman Class of 2018 EA

Congrats, Meghargs! My S is a sophomore in TV/Broadcast j at Chapman and LOVES it. Wonderful program, super professors. His academic advisor is currently a business reporter on local TV news, plus teaches at Chapman. Can’t get any more “real world” than that. Is Chapman your first choice?

Congratulations to you and your daughter laurelj84! They have amazing dancers and your daughter will enjoy herself there, I am sure. I love watching (if only via youtube) Chapman’s American Celebration shows where President Doti always makes an appearance in a dance number.

Like LongRangePlan and other parents of Panthers here on CC, we have been really pleased with our D’s experience at the college. I’ve been convinced since 2010 - when my D and I started researching film schools - that Chapman is the best-kept secret in California. It’s the kind of school that makes sure that everything it does, it does very well.

Finally got that big envelope today.

Congratulations, seattle_mom! Sure took a while for mail to get up north!

I know, I feel like they might have been using pony express.

Just saw on Twitter that there’s a bunch of very happy people in Washington. USPS might have gone pony express to Washington, seattle_mom.:)

Does anyone know the number of EA applicants this year and the number admitted, deferred, and denied? I remember seeing it somewhere, but have been able to find it again…

Ray626 - on page 8 of this thread I had reposted numbers from Chapman’ s Twitter and tumblr page.

Yay for the acceptances! Time to buy the Chapman U Mom t-shirt on eBay? (That’s what I did two years ago  )

Longrangeplan, i bought my hubby one that says “Chapman Dad” from the college bookstore. One of his favorite shirts, of course!

Longrangeplan that is so good to hear! I was always considering chapman but I didn’t think I would get in so I didn’t reasearch it all that much but now that I got accepted it is pretty much my second choice. (I’m waiting to hear from USC.) But I have definitely done some research and Chapman seems like it would put me in a fantastic place for my future, which is super exciting. Does your S have anything else to say about the program in comparison to other schools like USC or just about the program in general?

Chancellor Scholar ($20,000 annually)

3.96 GPA, 30 ACT, lots of other stuff.

Supah cool, mayne.

Congratulations, marshallmeyer12!

Meghargs, S applied to 9 schools, accepted to all but one – USC! However, Chapman and USC were his two “tied for first place” choices, and he thought he’d be happy at either. I loved USC, too, but must admit the neighborhood/violent crime made me nervous. Chapman was an easy yes, not only for S but also for Mom and Dad – nice area, great school, and fantastic merit aid.

Son’s biggest challenge is saying NO to some of the great opportunities that are coming his way at Chapman. There are so many internships, so many offers to work on this or that cool project through his major, all of them good for resume building – but you can’t do everything (though he is trying). He has a full academic load, works on campus PT, is on an athletic team…busy busy. Also, he went down there not knowing a soul, and has made so many friends. Crazy about the school and the area, wants to live there after graduation. Funny, he has a close high school friend who did get in to USC and is attending. But the merit aid wasn’t much, and his family is really struggling to pay the tuition. Friend often takes the commuter train from LA to Orange (station is a few blocks from Chapman) to visit S on weekends, go to the beach.

Meghargs

As you can see our very own Miss California is a Chapman student at Dodge in TV & Broadcast. I am sure she could have gone to any other school–but she chose Chapman.

D is a sophomore film production major and got her acceptance letter in early February two years ago. I remember others posting here at that time and can tell you that film production acceptances were spread out over several months. They have to watch all those student films and review that long application, so there’s much more to it than the apps for non-potfolio majors, natch. Hang in there!

ChapmanAdmit tweeted on Jan 6:
“EA Film Production decisions should start going out next week on a rolling basis through the end of January.”

And from their tumblr:
Q: when will you know the date that film production decisions will be sent out?
Anonymous

A: Right now they’re aiming for right around January 15, but we’ll keep everyone updated if it’s going to be earlier or later.

Not too much longer to wait!

From Chapman Admission’s tumblr site today:

Q: When you say that film production decisions will come out on a rolling basis … Does that mean that if you applied very early in advance (before November 1st) that your decision will come back sooner? Thanks
Anonymous

A: It actually looks like they decided to wait and release most, if not all, decisions at the same time next week. The date is not set yet, but basically at some point next week anyone with a decision made on their application will receive a notification from the office of admission. There’s still a chance not everyone’s files will be complete by then, so once the majority of decisions are released, there will still probably be a small percentage of student files still being reviewed that will come out on a rolling basis—so as soon as a decision is made for those students a decision will be mailed immediately. Hope that clears it up a little.

Thanks for all this info everyone. Makes the wait a little bit easier. At least I get my Chapman decision this month, I have to wait for March for all of my other colleges!

Can’t wait to meet the Film Production admits! Connects are key even from the start! Best wishes to everyone!
