<p>I took 2 years of Spanish in high school. Does Chapman University require you to still take a foreign language course in college? </p>
<p>Also, I found out only 12 credits(4 courses) will be transferable using their site. So does that mean one semester is technically out of my way? Right now, I'm on my second semester at a community college.</p>
<p>I don't think your Spanish will transfer from high school--they are simply not college level courses. But your 12 credits should equal one semester and you would be on to number 2. Yep.</p>

<p>Yes, I'm pretty sure... like 90% sure. But you can always call and ask the admissions or registrar office--the front desk will hook you up actually.</p>

<p>Chapman has a GE requirement that a student must take the 201 level of a foreign language class (Spanish 201, French 201, etc...) or they can try to test out of it, in order to graduate. Another option is taking AP foreign language and passing the test. But with only 2 years of high school Spanish, you most likely will not be able to test out. Most people in this situation skip Spanish 101 since it is so basic, take Spanish 102 for review, then take Spanish 201 second semester. Then the requirement is met.
As far as coming in with units, all that means is that you have 12 less units to take while you are there. A typical full time semester is 12-18 units. So in a way you have a semester done. Sometimes this allows students to graduate early, sometimes not. But, either way, it is nice to have classes out of the way.</p>
