Checked the mail just now and nothing still. I really can’t see myself being able to wait till August. I might spontaneously combust. No, but in all seriousness, I really hope that we all get the grant.

I hope we all get this grant! Haven’t received any notice in the mail yet and I live in Alabama! I sent the application off the first day like most of you but didn’t send it Express and I’m hoping they atleast offer me something even if that includes 20 bucks at this point. I have my fingers crossed for us all.

I’m in Georgia and waiting as well. I sent mine on the first day. Im checking every day but nothing yet.

Hi everyone the wootan grant changed their delivery date for the notification letter from early july to mid july…

How do you know?

I sent an email to find out about the dates. She said that notifications will go out mid-July and if you have not received an email or letter by August, then you have not received the grant.

Thanks for the heads up on the date change. :)

How does the grant program work? Do they send allotted money to certain parts of the country or states and when it’s gone it’s gone or what? My school had the applications but I send mine towards the end of the deadline.

its a letter then an email right?

They notify you with a letter through the mail asking for you to send in some additional info and give you a deadline to send it back. Then about 5 days before the deadline, they send you a reminder letter through the mail. They do not e-mail you but they are very good about responding to any specific questions you ask them. I hope that helps.

As for the way that the money is allotted, from my understanding they have 5 million in grant money. 4 million goes to Texas residents and 1 million goes to students who reside outside of Texas. Of the 4 million that goes to Texas residents, they split that between 2-year and 4-years college students. Like I said, this is the way I understand it and should by no means be taken as gospel.

I am still hopeful that we all get fantastic news by the end of this week or beginning of next week. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!!!

Thanks for the info on the date change. Just checked the FAQ on the website (for the 874th time) and they changed one of the answers from containing the words “first week in July” to “mid-July”. Slackers. I’m gonna drive myself crazy for another 3 weeks! Maybe I should just pretend I never actually applied and then be stoked if something actually comes.

So happy, I got my letter! It’s dated July 12 so everyone check your mail. Good luck!!!

Congrats! Did you get the full grant?
Also do you live in Texas?

Slebsn13 - do you live in Texas? If so, what part of Texas? Did you get the letter today or yesterday?

We haven’t heard anything yet. We mailed our application the morning of the first day, but we didn’t use Express Mail - just sent it regular first class. Those of y’all who have received grants in the past: Is overnight mail required in order to have a chance, or is there still hope for us? This is the first year we’ve applied and I didn’t think of sending it Express.

I’m in Texas and our EFC is 0, if that makes any difference.

No, I do not live in Texas anymore. I live in Arizona and I got my letter yesterday (Saturday). I am not sure if I got the full amount but I got $3850 so I am MORE than thrilled. I sent my application in before 10am (Arizona time) on the 1st day via express mail. It does cost me money up front but I have gotten the grant the last 2 years doing this. This is it for me though; I graduate nursing school with my bachelors in May 2013!
Again, best of luck to everyone!

Cbill1997, The 1st year I applied I was living in Texas and I mailed my application regular mail. I did receive a grant but it was about half the amount that I have recieved the last 2 years when I sent it via express mail. I think there is still hope for you because I really don’t think that everyone who gets the grant uses express. I think its worth it. Good luck!

If you get it, what extra information do they need?

Didn’t apply, just wishing everyone good luck! I hope y’all get the grant!

Congrats! I hope there is some sort of hope for all of us who sent our applications regular first class mail. Fingers crossed for the rest of us!
