I'm sorry to be posting this here but I'm kind of inept at searching for apartments on/offline... I'm a freshman and I'm looking to live alone in West or North campus next year. I've heard that this isn't such an easy feat unless you're willing to pay $1000, but does anyone have any experience? Suggestions? I guess my ideal price range is <$700 or so... is this a pipe dream?

I’m in the exact same boat, wise upperclassmen please help us out!

Although I may be willing to pay 1000+ if it is really nice

or i could get a roommate if they are nice

@buriedalie, I can tell you you will not find anything that cheap in west campus. I’m paying 750 for a 4 bedroom.

@sketchedout, you’re golden and should have absolutely no trouble finding an apartment. the nicest is definitely 21&Rio :)

North Campus? Anywhere near campus? Anywhere besides Riverside? Bbfiabouf ubfoabao i don’t want to live on campus again :(

I’m paying $850 for a single. That’s the cheapest you’ll find. I’ve never done it, but maybe try a co-op?

USofPlutarchy: My parents would NEVER pay for me to live in a co-op, haha (yes, I’m a spoiled suburbanite whose kind parents are footing the bill for my education)… I actually did consider that, and personally I think it’d be a cool experience, but hey, I’m not the one in charge here…

I found something on 30th Street called Fountain Terrace… some guy on a review site from earlier this year said he had an efficiency there for $595/mo and that it was pretty nice. Anyone heard anything about it?

There are a few places in West/North campus where efficiencies are $600-700. 1 Bedrooms will be all be $700+

Blugh. How big of a deal is having to commute (by bus) to school? I’ve found plenty of decently-priced apartments that are far away from campus. Right now I have a LOT of long nights at the library, and I’ve heard the buses shut down at around 11, so that kind of thing would really suck…

I wouldn’t even risk it. Traffic is so god awful in Austin that you’ll save yourself a lot of stress if you just find something within walking distance.

Dunno if this is fishy or not, but this company seems to own several apartments in North Campus at good prices: [512 Realty, Austin, Texas : Leasing, Sales, and Investments](http://512realty.com/public/results_home.php?current_page=1)

512 is one of the bigger leasing companies… they seem to be legit and North campus is usually cheaper :)

We have a condo that our son (currently a sophomore in Advertising) is currently living in with some friends. He will be there next year, but some of the friends might be moving out (one wants to get a dog, which they can’t do at ours). We have one room that has double bunk beds and a bathroom. There is another small private room. Not sure what will be available, but if you are potentially interested, private message me. Double would be about $500/person. Single would be about $650/month. 3 bedroom, 2 bath, laundry, full kitchen, FURNISHED (including new beds and big TV). GREAT deck. 2nd floor. Includes parking. Quiet residential area on Robbins.

We are also open to subleasing over the summer!

Note to all kids looking for apartments: make sure to check out the elevator situation. In some high rise buildings, it can take forever to get up and down from your apartment.

I’m paying $795 for my efficiency in one of the nicer and newest apartments in west campus. But… prices are going up to $895, so I didn’t renew. The only efficiencies and 1-1s I know of that are cheap are in riverside which is a sketchy part of town.
