i received 18,000 per year in dean scholarships so ill need to pay around 10,000. this is an enticing offer considering UC's are 20,000 and so far i havent received any scholarships for Irvine, San Diego, or Berkeley(if i get in). i did however receive about 6,700 from riverside, but thats my safety school

10,000 plus expenses

Jessy09, Its not 21000 in loans. only 7000. The rest is grants. I wouldnt be able to do it if it was all loans because i have to cover the rest in loans.

so I've got about 7k in loans being offered even though I never filled out AU's special fin aid form.

Im guessing if I got any scholarships, they'd be posted as well; although judging by the way info has been handed out so far, I wouldnt be surprised if it's just not up yet.

D's info was finally posted. $18,000 per year deans scholarship. No other aid, but we didn't expect any.

Mine finally showed up, Presidents Scholarship, $25k/yr. If only I were going to go there!! lol

Well, I know I got alot but I can't afford to go to AU since the full tuition including room and board is about 43K. I can't get 12K out of the ground or something... I like AU but AU doesn't have ALOT of endowment.... I'm looking forward to attend William and Mary.

its not 43K, its more like 38K. Thats pretty good money.

is it true that you have to accept the financial aid within two weeks?

I just got the admission packet...
31K is a really good offer...
I also heard that I can apply for other grants when I go to AU.

I got 1K. I called and was like, "SERIOUSLY?" ***.

ilikenoodles: Same thing happened to me - a measly $1000 loan (my family is NOT rich either).......

However, I have heard that they are still evaluating students for MERIT aid, which I hope to receive. So don't worry, they might send us some more money ;)

Thanks equilibrium, that's at least a bit comforting. My $1k was in a loan too, and my family is very middle class. I hope something rolls in, or AU is off my list.

OMFG I got the same thing! 1K!!! I haven't called cuz I am still kind of shocked. American was my first choice and I really want to attend but..I mean serioulsly even George Washington gave me more(though it was also low). What did they tell you when you called ilekenoodles?? by the way Iam not so sure Iam gettin merit aid I heard all merit aid awards were already given out.

So, I hate to be a jerk, but I'm browsing back over the applicant stats thread and comparing it to the 'who got how much scholarship money' stuff and I feel EXTREMELY slighted.

When I called they said that I (or my parents) could refill out all of financial aid forms and appeal the award decision. The lady on the phone didn't sound too optimistic about the measly offer getting any better, though. I got a letter from AU today, from the school I applied to, but there was no mention of $$.

I'm not overly concerned about aid - I doubt I qualify.
But in comparison, I'm just qualified numbers wise, if not more so than some people who go it, for merit aid.

I only got like $4K somthing in aid, that sucks, I've recived like $22k purely in grants and scholarships from other schools, ya, don't think I'm going to AU anyway though....

Thanx..I might call and apeal, I read you you should tell them how much you got from other schools and try to make them match it, kind of like buying a car. I doubt this will have any effect though.
