Chem 14A and LS1

I went to orientation 101 and for some reason they advised us not to take these two courses (14A and LS1) at the same time. Why shouldn't we? Is it too hard to keep a good gpa taking these two classes together?

I'm taking both of those classes this quarter...uh oh.

You're in for some fun; both courses are very time-consuming.

i can see how both courses can be time consuming but i'm only taking those two and an easy GE. So I'm basically studying two subjects first quarter. For some reason, this doesn't strike me as hard? Can anyone tell me from experience how each of these classes are? thanks

hey bruinboy.....somehow i have a feeling i probably know you from 101...but anyhow, i got the same warning from my OC when i told her my original plan was to take LS1 and 14A...she said it was "too much too soon" for an incoming freshman...i'm thinking that it's harder than we both might think...on paper it sounds fine to be studying only two subjects (disregarding the easy GE ..) considering how in high school, it seems like we had to do so much more...but college academics might be A LOT different in terms of expectations...i think we're better off listening to the older students..

i went to a workshop for life science majors, and they recommended finishing your math and the first three classes of chem first because the information comes in handy for the LS and physics series. so math3/30 and chem 14/20 aren't necessarily prerequisites for the LS and Physics classes...but they help.
