I’m an incoming freshman and was wondering if I should take Chem 14A in the fall with either Lavelle or Li (unfortunately Li does not have a bruinwalk or ratemyteacher review) Thoughts?
@AbrahamChorbaj1 ugh i have the same question too. My brother had lavelle and says his exams are awful. but like you said Li seems to be new and there is no information on him/her. not sure whether to risk taking Li or not. then again it doesn’t sound like anyone can be much worse than lavelle.
@AbrahamChorbaj1 so after talking with my brother he said NEVER get the new professor. Li is new. New teachers are usually all over the place in terms of material and pace of the class. But you are still responsible for all the material normally covered in the class.
They tend to test harder because they must keep with the departments distribution of grades. (Same percent A’s B’s etc)
Also lavelle at least has a course reader full of all his notes.

I didn’t like lavelle but I wouldn’t say that it’s impossible to get a good grade… it depends on how hard you work really
