is the chem 14B main text the same book as the chem 14A book?

I looked at the syllabus, but the book I have doesn't have a ch. 20 or 21.

did you get the UCLA customized edition? some of the chapters including 20 and 21 are regular computer typed pages.

14A and 14b come from the same Peter Atkins textbook..but ucla has customized editions for each..so i dont know what you mean when you ask if its the same book

the general chem (thermo, electro, kinetics) will all come from atkins. the only difference is the organic portion, which comes from a different source. I have no idea what that source is (it might even be made by lavelle).

btw, the organic portion of 14B is not very difficult, so you could get by with just the reader.

I believe that the 14b book has both the general and organic portion, at least that is what I remember lavelle telling us.. which is why it costs so much.

ok so from what I understand the book for 14A and 14B are the same book but the UCLA editions are different, meaning that I can't just use the text I used for 14A for 14B. I'm strongly considering not buying the book... anyone think I can survive by just going to lecture?

the 14A/B/C books are basically "excerpts," if you will, from the textbook by Peter atkins..so no, unless yuou have the whole atkins textbook, you cant use the 14A book for 14B
