Chem 1A in Spring, less competition?

Some people say that Chem 1A in spring will have less competition.
How true is this statement?

Very true statement. Since many premed and other sience majors need to take additional chem classes like o-chem they start chem 1A in the fall of their freshman to not fall behind. In the spring they usually only have 2 chem 1a lectures and those never fill up.

aw man.. i wish i knew this sooner. i had heard chem 1a was easy, then i thought of all the pre meds setting the curve..

^^ what curve? chem 1a has a set grading scale so theoretically 100% can get A's

really? i thought chem 1a was graded on curve.
then would less competition not benefit me in any way?

Chem 1A had a curve when I took it in Fall 2006. I don't think it has changed.

Guess Fall 2007 changed its grading policy, or maybe teachers are different w/ class set ups. Prof Stacy definitely said there was a set grading scale for the class and tests would not be curved. Whatever you earned in points would ultimately be your grade.

The course policy for the Stacy/Boering/Majda says: "Course grading is on a straight scale based on points earned out of points available."

Out of 1000 total points the A's are (850-1000), B's (700-849), C's(550-699)
