chem 2070

norcalguy, do many people skip a semester andtake upper div inorganic chem? or is that rare?

Just throwing in something from an engineering perspective. All engineers have to take CHEM 2090, which can be skipped if you get a 5 in AP Chem. And if you’re in a major like mine you never have to do chem again.

Also, Chemistry sucks and anyone who disagrees does not share my opinion.

@suzalicious…
uh oh. are we not being appreciative of the quality& variety of education that others outside the united states can only dream of? are we dissing one of the most important majors at cornell, like an ungrateful student? are we being a ■■■■■ here? :P

in my opinion, engineering sucks and anyone who disagrees does not share my opinion.
i wouldn’t normally say that, but just sayin’ so you understand the kind of thing you’ve just said here.

Um. Reread that sentence.

“_____ sucks and anyone who disagrees does not share my opinion.”

I’ll give you a moment to figure it out.

K, never mind, I’ll just say it. To disagree with one MEANS to not share one’s opinion. “Anyone who disagrees with me does not share my opinion” is a quote from somewhere - I forget where exactly, I heard it from one of my professors - and I was being random. Not exactly the funniest of jokes or even the most obvious, but I wasn’t being even slightly serious.

suze- i gotcha perfectly the first time, and repeated your sentence perfectly.
you see, i’m talking about two words in that sentence; that’s the contentious part, not the latter.

i’ll give you as long as you want to figure that out.

you know what, whatever. this is getting stupid.

you made a joke, i made a joke.
you don’t take chem, i take chem
you’re into engineering, i’m not into engineering.
you’r in COE; i’m in A&S.

but this time, i think i was the one who made an inappropriate response to
an (intentionally) innocuous post. sorry about that.

Chill man. I totally blew up at you that time and you didn’t need it. We’ve both been through the same hell of applying to college and trying to get aid/scholarships to pay for it and we’ve both been successful at it, thankfully. I’ll reiterate my apology from the other thread and hope you still don’t carry a grudge. We’re classmates after all.

I’m praying for that 5 on my AP Chem because I’m really not cut out for the subject and if I take any intro chem course I will get a C. No doubt about it.

Yes, it’s rare and abnormal. Unless you have a special affinity for chem, you shouldn’t skip out of a semester of gen chem. What’s tested on the MCAT is gen chem, not upper div inorganic chem. Don’t assume you’ve mastered the material just because you got a 5 on the AP test. College is a whole other ballgame.
