Is Chem 2080 a lot harder than Chem 2070?

...they are not comparable courses...

are you asking if you can take one instead of the other? cuz one is a first semester course, and the other is a second semester course.

The kids in both classes are the same and the curve is the same, so that says both classes are almost exactly the same in difficulty.

They are about the same in terms of difficulty, I did worse in 208 but that's not really because of the difficulty.. I got the flu and pneumonia and skipped a week of lecture right after a week of school. Then after i recovered I just decided to skip the rest of the semester of Chem lectures as well and went straight to lunch lol... Ended up with a A- in 208 cause of a screw up on the acid/base exam... only got 1/3 SD above mean.

But yea the difficulty is definitely similar.. if you have the 5 on AP you can take 208 I believe. People think that 207 might be easier in terms of getting higher grades because it's filled with non science majors like AEM while 208 includes both engineers and science majors... but the engineers didnt really do much to change the curve...

in my year the first prelim of 207 was the hardest one cause of the elctromagnetism stuff. I dont remember the mean though, like 120s? in 208 the hardest was the acid/base one with mean in the 50s.. i actually saw a lot of people just walk out of that exam lol

I already took Chem 2070 last semester and I did pretty well. I'm just trying to see what I can expect from Chem 2080.

I got exactly the same grade in both.

I took them 3 yrs ago, so not sure if I'm remembering right, but 207 was more abstract, I remember pictures of orbitals... while 208 was thermodynamics and acid/base things, so lots of solving equations.

yea 207 was def more abstract. i remember there was a robert frost? poem on the final exam

they are much different - 208 is much more quantitative and yeah there was a robert frost poem you had to analyze on the final exam for 208
