chem requirement for transfer to ucla comp. sci and engineering program

I am attending a community college on a quarter system and wish to apply to ucla's computer science and engineering dept. However, according to assist.org (if you do not know this site, chekc it out it's pretty great) I need to take the full chem sequence. Taking 4 quarters of chem (what I need in my case) would greatly cut into the time i can spend taking programming classes, etc. So my question is, is it unheard of getting into the program without fullfilling the chem requirement (which seems uneccessary for a comp. sci. major anyways)? Is any one familiar with ucla's requirement for the comp. sci/engineering program? If so let me know, because I would like to see if my chances are hurt greatly by not taking any chem (I have one year at the community college left).

Thanks in advance!

btw
my gpa is about 3.6 and should be around 3.7 by the time I apply, so this may factor in.

I’d call UCLA admissions and ask how they feel about it. Or check their website; assist.org may not be correct. But since “ASSIST is the official repository of articulation for California’s public colleges and universities” I’d take it pretty seriously. And computer science is about more than just programming; many schools that offer a CS degree expect basic physical science as well.

I would take everything just to be safe. I have a friend with a 3.93 who got rejected from UCLA CS&E because he failed to finish the chemistry requirement.

I find it odd though, that they’re making you take 4 quarters/a whole year of chem. On the semester schedule, we were only required to take gen chem 1 for CS&E, which is 1 semester/half a year.
