Chem vs Chem H vs AP Chem

We all now the easiest is chem and the hardest ap chem but what is the diffrence between all these courses. Mostly what differs from chem and chem H and how much harder is ap chem from chem H and what is diffrent. I am wondering which course or courses to take.

Well at my school, you learn a chapter of organic chem in chem honors and not in regular chem (but most high schools dont even teach organic chem). but other than that, you learn pretty much the same thing in honors and reg, but honors has a faster pace and goes in more depth. tests are harder, more hw, teacher expectations are a lot higher for honors. oh and chem honors uses a different textbook (im assuming its harder than the one for regular? but idk). chem honors has something similar to a midterm but reg chem doesnt. idk theres prob more but i cant come up with more. and oh ap chem is a lot harder than honors chem. by a lot.

It really depends on your school, speak to older classmates, teachers, and/or your guidance counselor.

In my school, regular chem is very basic, and teaches for a basic final. Honors chem is much harder, and teaches for the SAT II in chemistry. And AP chem is similar in difficulty to honors, teaching for the AP exam in chemistry. Regular or Honors is a prerequisite for AP in my school.

But again, it will vary from school to school.

At my school, Chem H’s tests are much more difficult, because of time limits. Chem H: 45 mins, 30 - 50 scantron questions, and 5 - 10 written portion questions. With regular Chem, you get 1 hour and 20 mins. with less questions as well.

It definitely varies by school. At my school, regular and honors chem are considered “first year” chem, and AP is “second year.”

In my experience, the regular chem class was consistently 2-3 chapters ahead of honors chem at any given point in the year. Though I’m sure honors is supposed to be more in depth and difficult, as an AP chem student I never once discovered anything that my friends that had taken honors learned that I didn’t, though I quite a few times discovered things that I learned in regular that they never even touched on. Honors and regular also used the same textbook. I am sure at other schools this is absolutely not the case, since there isn’t really a standardization for what constitutes honors or regular.

It depends on your school. My school doesn’t even have honors chem so the regular chemistry class has organic chemistry and everything. I thought the class was kinda hard. AP Chem is even harder.
