Chemistry 2010 Exam

Am I safe to start posting answers?

Yes, but only to the free response section.

The lewis dot stuff was relatively easy. I was bit of afraid if they ask like something about square pyrmaid or square planars lol.

I got trigonal planar and tetrahedral.

This year’s wasn’t necessarily difficult but it was not straightforward. Since nobody seems to be doing this, I’ll start:

a. Ksp=[Ag+][Br-]
b. about 7 x 10^-7 M
I forget the rest of the problem except I got about 37000 L (prob. very wrong) for the one about how much needed to completely dissolve 5g and the AgBR was more soluble because the AgI precipitated first.

a. lowered by 3.2oC
b. Endothermic, b/c it took in heat energy from surroundings
c. something like 1200 j or so ???
the percent error one was 12.46 kj/mol

I don’t remember much, but I think the rate law was rate=k [first species]^2[Second species][H+]^3
Also, it could not have happened in one elementary step because it involves 3 molecules and termolecular collisions are not conisdered elementary.

first one was KOH + HNO3 –>H2O, but all you wirte down is OH- + H+ –>H2O because they both dissociate 100%

Ethyne: H:C:::C:H
Either Ethane or Ethyne could have been used for the nonpolar one
The IMFs one dealt with one having H-Bonds, so it is more soluble because things with similar IMFs dissolve and the other was dipole-dipole so it only dissolved somewhat.

@ lemone: did you take form B? I don’t remember it asking geometry questions.

So I self studied chem which was a bad idea…but my school doesn’t offer ap chem, and the chemistry class it does offer actually just resembles a junior high science class- I took it last year, and the only things we learned were basic stoichiometry (from avo’s number to moles to mass) and the names/formulas of ions. That’s it. And now I’m seriously thinking about cancelling my score because I don’t think I did well enough on the FRQs to pass- if I had 45 raw score for the MC, approximately how well would I have needed to have done on the FRQs to have gotten a 3?

Vince: According to my review book, you already are at a 3.

really? hahaha
that would be AWESOME
I think I got 40-45 MC
and I said I was done with this thread because I didn’t wanna see how bad I screwed up the free response lmao
Idk why haha I think I only screwed up a few sections of a couple of them…but I still like getting on here and getting reassured that I did ok :D

I think I made a 4…and I’m praying I did lol

bump

anyone want to verify my answers? (post 284)

Looks about right pkm, there was a shape question

It was tetrahedral and trigonal pyramidal
