Chemistry SAT II

Hello all,

I'm a sophomore and I'm in AP Chemistry. I skipped my school's honors chemistry course (which was the prerequisite for AP); I'm doing alright so far.

My only issue is that skipping honors chem means that I missed the organic chemistry unit. I independently studied the prerequisite chemistry course's curriculum over the summer, but I did not study the organic chemistry unit (I was a bit pressed for time, I only had 6 weeks after CTY to cover a year's worth of material). I was told that this would not be a problem for the AP Chemistry test.

Here is my issue: I was told that I should take the SAT II for chemistry, and that it had some OC on it. Can someone give me an idea of the volume of organic chem questions on the SAT II, and a general idea of what I should be studying at home to learn the unit that I missed?

Side note: I know nomenclature, and some basic concepts that I picked up from AP Chem tests.

There are very very few organic chemistry questions, maybe 2-4 or around there

I guess if your going for a perfect score then you need to learn a few things, but the December 4th test didn’t have much

The one example I remember is, which one of these equations is acid rain?

The answer was obvious as only one of the formulas had SO3, which is made from two different compounds.

Yep, there are very few questions about organic chem on the SAT II. Reviewing any sort of prep material (SAT books, etc) should give you enough information to get at least a majority of those questions right.
