Choate Rosemary Hall Interview help?

So, I have scheduled my interview for Choate in 3 days, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda panicking XD. My questions are:
-What would be the proper attire to wear? (Is dress slacks, dress shirt, tie, and dress shoes good enough? Or is that too much? Also bear in mind where I live it's constant 100 degree weather and hotter.)
-I'm not visiting the school, as it is on the other side of the country, so what questions could I ask to get a better feel about the campus?

Gah, that all I have for now, I will most more if they come to mind.

I’m not experienced at this, but since you are not visiting the school and it is really hot where you are, you should wear something appropriate yet comfortable, rather than preppy and uncomfortable.

I’m so glad you started this thread! I have my interview/ tour tommorow!! I am just wearing dress pants and a blouse (i’m a girl lol) But, i’m pretty nervous too! I don’t want to slip up or anything.

Just saying you guys shouldn’t give out the dates of your interview because an A/O could look and find out (thought they probably won’t).

Oh and why are you guys nervous? Just be yourself, its a lot easier than being anyone else. Make sure you know about the school, because they will probably ask you why you want to go to that specific school, and you should be able to say why.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I think a dress shirt, dress slacks, dress shoes and a tie will be fine. What year are you applying for? (Freshman, Sophomore, ETC?)

Well, this is the only school i’m applying to (yeah, crazy) so basically, my whole highschool career depends on this (it really does, believe me) If I don’t get in, i’m stuck going to… ah how should I put it, beat down schools in the ghetto? (don’t take that the wrong way I’m not ghetto, I promise! Lol) but that is my last resort.

Freshman  whoop whoop! Haha.

I would find a few other backup schools (schools that aren’t as selective as Choate, but you would enjoy going to choate) just to be safe. That’s what went wrong when I first applied, I only had one school.

See, I want to apply to more schools, but my parents aren’t to peachy about the whole boarding school idea, (it’s mainly my mom) but I am trying to convice them to let me apply to one more school, and that would either be Peddie, or Cheshire Academy.

Choate, Andover, NMH, and Exeter are my top picks. Hotchkiss would be a little lower than these schools, and I am interested in Mercersburg Academy as a backup.

Those are all great schools! Good luck!

Ah! Good luck! If by three days you mean tomorrow, maybe we’ll see you touring campus !

It will be a off campus interview (I live on the West Coast), it went fairly well. I’m not sure if I want to continue to application process because I don’t think I’m fully set on Choate.

Wow I got a bit cut off from your original question. I am applying as a freshman.

And Exeter, Andover, Choate, St. Alban’s, and Hotchkiss are my choice schools, in order of preference so far. I haven’t interivewed at all of them, this is the list before, but I really didn’t feel that andover was my magic fit.

Those are all awesome schools! My first choice before was Choate, but now I don’t think it’s the school that will fit me, where as Andover, which was one of my lows, is now at my top.
My top BS:

  1. Andover
  2. Northfield Mount Hermon
  3. Exeter
    4.The Hill School
  4. Mercersburg Academy
  5. Choate

How was your interview at Choate? I feel like I will be more of an Exonian, they have a strong math department, and that is my favorite subject. Besides, their color is red, which is also my fav.

Choate was okay. I don’t feel its the school for me (I’m more set on arts and humanities), as they are very focused on math and sciences. I felt the interview went fairly well, I don’t think I stood out or that it went extremely well. Exeter seems like a very good school just from the brief convo I had with the admissions director. If you can, I would suggest you try to get interview by him. Very bubbly personality that man has.

Doesn’t Choate have a really good art center?

PaperIdeas:

Yes, yes they do. That was a plus for me, but not really a huge plus.
