Choate vs. Andover

first time i see olivia not rooting for choate

On the other hand, Choate's newspaper is just as good. ;)

Read them for yourself - both are online. Andover students joke with each other more, which is entertaining, and I like their Features.

On the other hand, Choate's newspaper is just as good.

Olivia, not only should you immediately be removed from Choate's waitlist and offered a place, you should receive a fee for all the favorable PR you're doing for the school.:)

BTW - my son is going there next year, as a 3rd former so it would be kind of neat if you were classmates. Are you applying for 9th or 10th grade?

prpdd: im also going to choate next year as a 3rd former!

Helenmellon, I will have to get my son to start posting. As far as I know, he doesn't have any friends going to Choate with him, so it would be nice if he kind of sort of knew someone before he arrived. Based on your name I assume you're a girl, in which case I think you'll be living in Logan Monroe. My son, along with all the other 3rd form boys, will be next door, in Mem House.

What language do you take? What math course do you think you're going into?

Just noticed this thread (being a current Choate senior I was drawn to the Choate title)...

prpdd, 3rd form girls actually live in Nichols, which is still right next door to Mem but significantly nicer than Logan.

For help with the whole comparing of newspapers,
The Choate News: thenews.choate.edu
The Phillipian: www.phillipian.net

I would agree with Olivia's assessment that The News seems to have a more serious tone and intention while The Phillipian strives to be more entertaining. I actually feel like the writing in The Phillipian tends to be more mature in style and substance, but both are fantastic compared to a significant number of peer schools.

Yes I am a girl. =) Well I am going to take chinese and french. The chinese teacher at Choate said that I should be in AP Chinese but I don't really know about french cause at my school the levels are different.
Math... I think I am taking geometry (don't know about the honors and stuff, but we'll see) next year.
how about ur s?

Son has been taking Latin and will probably continue to do so. My guess is that he will either place into Latin 2 or possibly 3.

How long have you been taking Chinese? We met one of the Chinese teachers on revisit days and she told us about a summer program at Choate offering intensive instruction in Chinese that he was very interested in. We are seriously considering signing him up. Not sure where he would be placed after he took this course.

As for Math, that's always been a pretty strong area for him. He's had Algebra I and is currently taking Geometry, so my guess is that he'll be in Algebra II.
