Choices?

Probably quite a few of you are starting to make decisions about spring transfers...
and so am I!!!!

I applied to BC, NYU, and NU,
got accepted to BC and NYU,
still waiting for NU (results come out on the 15th, I heard).

I currently go to the University of Rochester as an Econ major
had a 3.8 gpa last year (compared to my 3.6 something gpa in HS..)
and a 2100 something SAT

I will be more than delighted to go to NU if I get in, but I need to prepared myself with a decision between BC and NYU just in case I don't get into NU!!!!

And here, the dilemma begins.
NYU-definitely great location to be studying econ. Has a great econ department. Undoubtfully a great place to live and experience. But Living costs are...you know, extremely ridiculous. Probably will end up ins ome tiny cramped room. But still has easy access to internships and stuff.

BC-Nice suburbanish location. Actually has a campus. Would be a nice place for me to live with my sister if she decides to go to some private high school around the area. Nicer to place to "live," not "enjoy" (aka NYC)...but the city is still a train ride away.

So they have their pros and cons.....but then, people question me, is it worth transferring to those schools? NYU and BC are all pretty much on the same level of U of Rochester (perhaps academics wise...living environment wise..NOT.)....

But would you rather transfer out of Rochester for BC or NYU?

I would rather transfer to BC. Boston is definitely a good place to stay. BC has a better study environment than NYU.
You seem have great stats. You have a chance to NU.
What were the courses that you took last year? Will you be able to transfer your credits to both BC and NYU? How many credits did you earn so far?
What are your extracurricular activities and any internships yet?

I took 3 math, 3.5 Japanese, 3 Econ, 1writing, 1art, 1 stats, 1 marketing course so far
…and I had a total of 40 credits last year and including this semester I have 58 credits

…none of the colleges have notified me how much of my credit will be transferred thou.

EC wise, not much, Im the publicity manager for a club…did an internship in Korea last summer.

If you want a campus and all the benefits that brings (i.e., close-knit community, cohesiveness, school pride, etc.), go to BC.

Not saying NYU doesn’t have those things (well, except the campus bit), but it’s a little harder to get used to the environment. It’s impersonal, disconnected, and downright lonely–at least in the beginning.

What kind of jobs are you looking for? Check on their career service and see if they have connections or not.
What kind of internship did you have last summer? career-related?

For NU, did you write a very strong essay? What’s your reason for transferring?

I want to go to Law school afterwards…but my internship was as more like a media/pr/mkting intern since I worked at a Korean company and worked on their english website (i basically did all the translation and communication with the web designer) and came up with materials and a concept design for their company pamphlet/portfolio…

my reason for transfer was that I am discovering many new interests, but the school I’m currently in is highly concentrated on the sciences…so I wanted a more well rounded school, where people were happy with where they were.

you have great stats. so don’t worry much about NU.
is your gpa 3.8 flat or 3.8ish?
how many B+ or A- 's did you get last year?
