Hello, everyone! Thank you for passing by for my ask! I’m a undergraduate student from China and I plan to further my study in master degree in the United States. Now I have narrowed my choices down to two, university of Florida major in international business and DePaul university where I will major in human resource management. It’s true that the ranking of UF is much higher than that of DePaul ,but as a business student,my concern is that maybe the location will outweigh the ranking,as UF is in Gainesville and DePaul is in Chicago. And if it’s possible, can anyone in UF tell me how the business school is like in UF ? Will it provide many chances for the students to apply what they have learnt into society? Can anyone in DePaul tell me how’s the reputation of DePaul in Chicago? And how’s your evaluation of DePaul ?I want to accumulate some internship experience during the international study,so I always think about the location. But I don’t know my concern is right or not. Hope you can tell me something about it! Is location really crucial in finding a business-related internship in the U.S? Thank you very much!
anyone?
anyone come to help me?
It really depends on where you want to work. DePaul’s Business School has made some excellent connections for internships in Chicago, and will be able to get internships in the city. Internships at Florida will be more difficult because you will have to relocate. However, the advantage that Florida has is that it is the highest rated B-school in the state, while DePaul is number four in Illinois after Chicago, Northwestern and UIUC. After graduation, you will probably have better choices coming out of Florida than DePaul.
If you are not a citizen, do not assume that you will be employed by U.S. Companies. Go to the school that will employ you in your country. Work visas are a lottery.
I would also look very closely at the percentage of international student who get full time offers from each school. I’d talk directly with Career Services at each school to see how others have done in the past and what issues they’ve faced in getting employment.
thank you very much!
Personally, I would pick UF - they look like they have been making strides lately with building a program there.
