Hello, everyone. Thank you for passing by for my ask.I’m an undergraduate student from China, and I want to further my study in master degree in the United States. Now I have narrowed my choices to two, university of Florida major in international business and DePaul university where I will major in human resource management. It’s true that the ranking of UF is much higher than that of DePaul ,but as a business student,my concern is that maybe the location will outweigh the ranking,as UF is in Gainesville and DePaul is in Chicago. And if it’s possible, can anyone in UF tell me how the business school is like in UF ? Will it provide many chances for the students to apply what they have learnt into society? Can anyone in DePaul tell me how’s the reputation of DePaul in Chicago? And how’s your evaluation of DePaul ?I want to accumulate some internship experience during the international study,so I always think about the location. But I don’t know my concern is right or not. Hope you can tell me something about it! Is location really crucial in finding a business-related internship in the U.S? Thank you very much!
Anyone?
DePaul is well-respected in Chicago. UF has a fine B-school.
However, you’re an int’l. how would you work here anyway? Will you be able to transition your education visa into a work visa? Is that easily done?? Does the employer have to help with that?
Thank you for your answer~ the fact is that it’s very difficult for an international student to find a job in the U.S. And not many employers would like to sponsor the international students… But I want to acquire some advanced working experience in the U.S in terms of working as an intern. So I do not know which school will give me such kind of chance. And I learnt that the admission rate of DePaul is almost 70%,much higher than that of UF. You mentioned that DePaul is well respected in Chicago, could you please tell me about it in detail? Thank you very much!
anyone can give me some advices?
You posted in the undergraduate forum so it’s harder for people here to tell you anything, you’d have to post in the graduate/business" forum.
Overall, for an international student who needs internships, it seems that the Chicago location would trump the reputation/ranking UF has; DePaul does indeed have a good reputation in the Chicago business community.
Thank you soo much MYOS1634, I wonder whether DePaul is the targeted school in the Chicago district… And the ranking of b-school of UF is much higher than that of DePaul, does it mean that it will be better for me to find an internship in the U.S.? I don’t know how the people in the U.S.think about ranking…as you know,in China ,everyone cares a lot about ranking
