What would be a few good housing choices to live in as a sophomore. Also what would be the two places i would not want to live in as a sophomore? Thanks for your help.

If you are a transfer you dont get to pick your dorm, only your preference of a single or double. Also, most transfers are placed in Kissam.

If you choose a single, you’ll pretty much definitely get placed in Kissam. People complain about Kissam a lot but it’s really not as bad as they make it sound. Compared to the amazing new, huge dorms that freshman get to live in on Commons, yes it’s terrible in comparison. However, since you’re not living with a roommate, the “small” rooms really shouldn’t be a problem - they don’t feel cramped and they’re not usually disgusting or anything. The decor is dingy compared to the new dorms, etc, but it’s not a miserable situation. I lived in Kissam for the last 1/4 of the year my freshman year and loved it, and I’m living there again this year. I’m pleased. It is off in the corner of campus, yeah, but not as far away as the freshman dorms are. It’s right next to some restaurants too and is right next to Wilson if you have any classes there.

If you choose a double, you could get Branscomb Quad (which is pretty nice and has a central location) or a few other options. All of them are fine.

It mainly depends on if you want a double or a single - the doubles tend to be “nicer” but are going to be more cramped because they’re still somewhat small and you’ll have 2 people in the same room. I for one don’t want to have another person in my space, so I think the Kissam rooms are totally worth it.
