Nice to get a greeting from UNC. Everyone else get it? Was hoping that it was a sign for my brother.

I also got one...actually two...one on my personal email and one on my UNC email. I'm also hoping it's a sign. Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

did you get one in the mail?

I got a "Season's Greetings" e-mail, but nothing in the actual mail. Tarheelhopeful, what is your UNC email?

And Merry Christmas!

UNC Email is a subheading under your online MyUNC Homepage. Basically its just a copy of every email UNC has sent to your regular email account. When you log on it won't say that you have a new message but you can click something to the effect of UNC emails or My email under one of the drop boxes and access all of the emails they have sent you.

The email they sent was very nice but also general so I'm guessing everyone who has applied probably received it?

Yeah....I guess it's the same thing as the letters that some people received. Until you get the actual congrats letter with your name on it from UNC....everything else is just a guessing game. :)

My son received one - but he hasn't even applied to Carolina. I think they email them to anyone who has shown interest. (edited to add: He set up an account to apply, but ended up not actually applying. They continue to email him regularly, to remind him of application dates and so forth.)

I didn't get one...

One arrived this morning at 12:40 am. I agree with Tarheelhopeful, but a nice gesture, nevertheless. He also recieved one from UMCP the other day which was actually signed by the dean of admissions.

My son got one. It's my impression that the UNC admissions office is quite skilled at marketing and communications--and I mean that in a positive way. We're trying to be realistic here as we play the waiting game. If you're OOS, you do your very best on the application essays, and after that it's like the lottery. Happy winter break to all.

Got an email-first thing I noticed was it was from UNC Admission Office and I freaked out! I opened it and it just said happy holidays. I'm sure it doesn't mean anything at all.

is it be mean to say that it would be better to not send it if you have been denied. the sentiment is nice but the real email everyone wants is not a greeting.
