<p>Okay so to alleviate the stress, frustration, irritation that occurs during college app season, I would like to change the subject to something more jolly (pun intended).
IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, being a Midwestern for nearly my entire life, I known very little about Christmas in the south. In fact, I've had a white Christmas almost every year. Thus this question arose:
What is Christmas like in Houston and at Rice.
Yeah I realize it's probably not that white, which will be weird for me and probably all the other people from the north. Nevertheless, I wanted to hear from some of the current students about their holiday experience (or near holiday experience if they fly back to the north during break).
Happy Holidays everyone!</p>
<p>I’m a parent, but I’ll start. Take a look at this photo from exactly one year ago [Rice</a> University | News & Media](<a href=“http://www.media.rice.edu/media/NewsBot.asp?MODE=VIEW&ID=13448]Rice”>http://www.media.rice.edu/media/NewsBot.asp?MODE=VIEW&ID=13448) Today’s weather was sunny and in the mid-70’s. You never know what Christmas weather you’ll encounter here!</p>
<p>Considering finals will have just ended, I anticipate a good amount of sleep in my schedule. Just saying.</p>
<p>Rice does Christmas well. There are holiday concerts at Shepherd. There was a ‘Winter Wonderland’ party at one of the colleges yesterday. The beautiful houses around campus are awesomely decorated. There’s christmas music in general around campus. It feels very festive. </p>
<p>At Hermann park across the street, they bring in snow for kids to play in, but you could probably go too if you get a serious snow craving.</p>
<p>I has snowed in Houston the past two years. It was only an inch or two, but it stuck for the night and was really pretty</p>
