Im a chronic worrier :P Submitted a number of college apps awhile ago and some information hasnt arrived it. Not to mention they cannot tell me what exactly arrived. Now how does everyone cope with these situations? And what is the chance of admissions losing some documents?

Colleges don't usually screw up anybody's application. In particular, they will get to a point where they will notice that something is missing and then ask you for it. All of the stuff is in a big mailroom where people are opening it, filing it, and entering its existence into the computer system. The priority for the workers is not to reassure the applicants, but just to keep going until everything is sorted and then to assess where everyone is at that point.

A lot of colleges have websites where you can sign on using a userid/password and check the progress of your application. They will send you the userid/password when they get the information into the computer (you may have applied online). Such sites will start out telling you what is still missing, then tell you that the application is complete, and then tell you when the decisions come out.

The thing that normally gets you is not usually something that you worried about, but rather something that you didn't even think of. Try to relax, unless what I just said worries you.

"Colleges don't usually screw up anybody's application." I wish! Chances are some paperwork will be lost/missing/never sent. Give it some time. At the early stages, admissions offices need some time to checks the files. They will let you know if paperwork is missing and this happens frequently enough that it is not a big deal and not something to worry about.

Actually we only had a serious problem with one college. They lost the same paperwork numerous times and it did not seem to make any difference if I mailed, emailed or Fax'd the documents.
