I haven't seen a thread on this one yet but anyway I picked my dorm randomly because I didnt know the differences (stupid I know) but I hear this one is like a mile off of the main campus and is popular with athletes. Is this true? Btw I'm not an athlete.

Definitely not a mile away, but it is quite some distance. Yes, it is popular with the athletes.

Oh thanks. I hope it’s not weird for non-athletes, oh well I’m sure I’ll survive. Is there anything else anyone thinks I should know about this residence hall?

Good:
- Has harry potter dining hall
- Bit more spacious than units
- Has it’s own dining hall
- Has its own gym
- Not bustling with people, more private and quiet
- Some attractive girls live near that area. Once walked the most stunning girl at ucb, who was in my english class, home because she lived near ck! Sigh…

Bad:
- Feels far from campus when walking, if you have class at Tollman, you’re screwed
- One of the most expensive dorms, a triple suite is ridiculously expensive
- Less of a dorm atmosphere, ex. if you live in building 11, all suites so no one opens doors or hangs around because they all have living rooms
- Athletes
- People tell you it’s so far all the time
- Dining hall food not “varietous”
- Isolated from people, people not willing to walk up to Clark Kerr

Bottom Line: Units are a bit better because of the proximity and convenience factor, sucks so much to walk to class at 8am from Clark Kerr.

There’s apparently a bus that comes up to take students to the main campus…like 15 minutes to get to the edge of campus, according to the guide who showed me around. They’re building some stuff next year in the front and renovating a room for a small gym, I think. Some old people nearby like to walk around the CK campus with their dogs.

I didn’t pick CK, personally thought the hallways were kind of creepy, dungeon-like. It used to be a deaf kids school. The rooms are the roomiest, though.
