Class costs

Is it the same cost if I take 3 classes vs. 4 classes (ie. $3000 fixed cost)? Or will each additional class add to the cost (ie. 3 classes = $3000 and 4 classes = $4000)?

maybe just book wise

There are fixed fees per semester, with both minimum and maximum numbers of units you can take - varies slightly by college but as an example, one must take between 13 and 20.5 units.

Each class has its number of units, based somewhat on the amount of work involved in that class. Many of the courses are 3 or 4 units, but they could be as low as .5 units, typically for PE, or 1 or 2 or . . .

No variable fees based on number of classes or number of units.

However, as fireprincess90 has said, each additional class may involve additional books that you must buy.

I think smileysoccergal is asking if there's a fixed fee per class you take, or an overall fee where you're allowed to take as many classes as you want.

overall fee, minus possible materials fee that depend on the classes. theres also a rising cost of books as you take more classes.

Take 3, 4, 6, 10 classes if you want -- as long as it's between the college's unit range (as L&S is 13 min to 20.5 max), you will pay the same amount.

If you get part-time status and take 12 units or fewer (which is VERY hard to do without a legitimate reason and significant preparation before the semester begins), it costs less based on some alternate formula, but for the average student:

You pay your fees, and you take as many or as few units you want (within 13-20.5 units if you're in L&S).

(Note that this excludes the cost of textbooks, class fees, etc. This is just for signing up for the class.)
