What do you do when classes are full? Is there a wait list? Do you show up the 1st day and beg? Must all Honor student take at least one Honor class per semester? S2 cannot even sign up enough credit for FT which he must due to his scholarship. He needs to take 2 PE. Yuk, on top of repeating the same higheset math class allow of the 500 series which he already took in HS which is equivalent to college credit already. What about all those student which has later sessions, what are they going to take?

Did y'all talk to his advisor when you were registering? My advisor had to approve it before we hit send. I feel your pain about the honor classes. I registered in June and could not make it work for over two hours! I ended up taking my last choice in an honors class, just to make it work. And yes, they do recommend you retake the last math(you must be Engineering?)because Engr. Calculus is REALLY difficult, or so they imply! And I was told most kids don't take the PE credit first year, so I skipped that for now. Who has he spoken to about the problem? Has he spoken to the honors people about his problem? They might be able to force him into the classes he needs. If he is NMF, did he call them to help him? I am really surprised the advisor let you leave without a full course load. I'd would definitely call Honors if he hasn't already. They are always really helpful. Good luck and Gig 'em!

You must not be freshman. Yes S2 is Engineering. He just got back and for OOS it is a 4 days ordeal to travel back and forth. Anyway, according to him advisor is not helpful. He give him a list of classes he can take, then past him on to the next depo. The next stop adminstrator realized he has many AP credits and kind of fullfill many of the freshman requirement. So, with that situation he is stuck and many classes already full. Then they give him a list of PE classes that is still open. We did not travel with him to the conference perhaps it is a mistakes on our part. For the math class, his Calculus credit is transferable. He has the option to take the next level if he wants. We will look at the syllabus of that class and decides further. We did not realize we can contact NMF/Honor department for assitance and will do that ASAP. Thanks.

Nope. I'm a freshman, but we found the advisor to be much more helpful. My understanding about my AP credits was that I will get credit, but in Engr. you don't really have the ability to take a lot of electives, so it won't really put you that far ahead. I got a 5 on Calc. BC Jr. year and will be doing Math 152, if that helps. I wanted to take Honors, but could not get the lecture to fit. It conflicted with EVERYTHING! Did you subscribe to Pick a prof? We found it to be really helpful. What Engr. is he? 4 days to travel? Did he drive? Wow! And yes, NMF has been extremely helpful whenever I have a problem. Good luck!

No he fly all the way into Easterwood with lay over etc, 2d conference, now you get the picture. College Station does not have that many flights. Before anybody suggest Houston, try coordinating the bus schedule. One cannot schedule it so tight that it will end up missing the bus if the flight is late. You will end up taking longer and only slightly cheaper. The minimum one way travel time is 12 hours from CA-HOU-CS. There is no shuttle between Austin and DFW. "Pic a Prof", if only you can get into the class at all. U must be one of those lucky one that have early sessions. I don't want to imagine those poor students in even later session. Math is up to him, as you are aware, U need to maintain 3.5 GPR for that scholarship. 1st semester is an adjustment and his brother been thru it in Engr-UCLA and we know. Basically they just register S2 into the Engr cluster and that’s it and follows the basic Freshman Engr layout. We will look into the elective, Engl 210, Chem etc select all the class he can take and add on Aug 21 and pray some class will still available. Before anybody says anything, yes the registration is CLOSE for freshman once you register. It is not open until then. BTW, we read the Honor book, if you cannot sign up Honor this semester; you can sign up next semester provided you maintain 2.75GPR, so there you go worst case. I do believe the advisor are all getting tired with this marathon sessions, S2 say many students and parents are complaining as well and long line after him with similar issues. That is the problem with public U anywhere.

Issue Resolved via his advisor. His advisor was not available during NSC, and S2 was temporary placed under someone else. He wrote to his advisor Sat and the professor responded on Monday and work out his Honor class, Engr plus elective classes. Thanks for your help!

Glad it got resolved!
