Class of '09 Early Bonding

Hello Everyone..
My name is Katie (big surprise). I just found this website and just created a name. I live in California and I just got into Vassar early decision. It is the school of my absolute dreams (I didnt even apply anywhere else because there was no where I wanted to go). Anywho, I thought it might be nice if I got to know some of you who will be my fellow classmates. So really anybody want to be my Vassar buddy :)? I am so sick of living in California were no one knows what the Seven Sisters are or what Vassar is.
So a little bit about myself. Why did I choose Vassar? Really everything. I wanted a tight community, the campus is amazing, and my grandma went there so i was raised with all of her college glory day stories so Ive loved Vassar every since I was a kid. Uhh... I love to paint, Im full diploma in the IB program, president of pagan club (no Im not wiccan or scary or gothic, im the typical cali girl with blonde hair and all), and i love to learn.
Anywho I hope I get to build some new friendships with some of you. My email is kitkat@winfirst.com if you are so inclined.

Happy Holidays!!

Well, i wish I could join you, but I haven't applied yet!. I'm applying ED II. Congratulations on getting in!

Hey Katie! I got in Vassar early decision too. w00t. I'm in IB Diploma program here in Georgia and no one knows what Vassar is here either. I don't really have that much to say, but I'm too excited about next year!!!

Moocow good luck to u on the second deadline, sorry u wont find out for awhile. And 'iheartvassar' I love the name lol. Georgia eh? You as excited as I am to leave for New York? I mean its NEW YORK. I just cant stand the anticipation. One of the big issues with applying so early is ur so excited and i feel a little unenthused about my school work. I just want to go and pack up my room and all that.

I live an hour away and as excited as I am to go next year, I can't see why anyone would want to leave what must be great weather in California. The weather where I live was in the negatives today with the wind chill.....eek.

What does a Pagan club do exactly?

Well, if anything, keep coming back to the forums! I feel like Ive talked to people like iheartvassar for so long, from before we all applied to recently when we found out we got in. If the people here are any indication, there will be a lot of nice interesting people to meet next year.

I LOVE New York. SO much. My brother lives in Manhattan and I go up there to visit him as much as possible. I've spent at least a month there for the past couple of years and I plan on staying with my brother for the summer so I can get a job in the city and go crazy and all that good stuff. I can't wait until high school is over. I'm like gagging I'm so anxious. lol. It does suck that we still have a whole semester of high school left, but at least in the IB program we'll be reviewing for exams for like the last half of the semester. Fun fun. But yeah....Vassar rocks my socks and I can't wait to meet all of you in person!!!

The great weather of California? Yes I admit we wont see anything lower than 50 degrees in the day, but then again theres only two seasons here. A summer where its over 100 and a winter without snow or temps any different from the fall. I cant wait till I can go somewhere where there are actually seasons. I like rivers and lakes more than the beach, but surfing is a blast I have to admit... newho, I just think that college is the easiest time to go out and experience something new ya know? I mean you pay them and they have housing and food all set up for u. Its not like we are 30 and trying to move figuring out a job and a house and all that. East Coast has so much more culture too.

Hey Katie! Congrats! i got into Vassar ED too! I am very excited, and while i concurr with silverstonett on the weather point, i can definetly see the allure of an east coast school for a west-coast person.

BTW, im Liz. nice to meet you!

I'm from Houston, so I can't wait to get away from the weather down here. I'm originally from England, so the cold is something I can deal with...I think.

Hi Liz. For everyone: what is it that excites you about Vassar so much? Have you all visited?

Hey Katie! Congrats. on ED I acceptance to Vassar. I am also another "acceptee". I don't have much to say, but it is just so refreshing to see another person as excited about Vassar as we all are. I am from the NY area (Long Island). And by the way everybody, my name is Bradley, or Brad if you prefer. I look forward to seeing all of you in person this coming fall, or perhaps i will even run into somebody when I visit Vassar this winter break! By the way Katie, what do you plan on majoring in? (Oh, and by the way, it is interesting to see that you are in the IB program, because I am also. It is good to see that this program exists somewhere else in the nation...How are you doing with all of your IA's? (=

Hey there Bradley. Yes the international program certainly is international. Im realizing that vassar likes IB kids. I plan on majoring in either history or sociology, or maybe a double major. I wanna get a teaching credential and then teach around the world in places where people need and want education that is not available to them. Then after that I'll come back and eventually become a professor. My IAs got finished last year actually the way my school is set up. Right now I have to finish my EE by Jan 3rd which shouldnt be too bad, and then i have to write my World Lit papers for English HL. Fun Fun! What are your tests? Im Art, English and History HL and German, Math and Science SL

My school still hasn't finished IAs, but we had to turn our EEs in on Nov. 15th and we already did our World Lit papers for English HL which everyone has to take. I'm Chemistry SL, Econ HL, English HL (no choice), History HL (no choice), Spanish SL (last year, got a 5), and Math Methods. I want to major in sociology too and anthropology.

Very cool. Happy HOLIDAYS everyone!

happy holidays everyone!

hey everybody, just discovered this part of the website. I'm another ED acceptee, Rachel from PA. and now that i know im going to vassar which totaly rocks, i have the worst case of senioritis. thats a shame.
In response to a couple of your questions, i looove vassar because its an awesome school but people still have fun there and its not all preppy kids in collared shirts like my uptight private high school (ugh). It felt like it was a pretty tight and accepting community which is cool too.
Hey Brad, where on Long Island are you from? My dad grew up in Baldwin and my grandma and aunt still live there.
Hope to hear back from you guys, ive been going crazy since i got my acceptance letter. One of my friends got accepted to Stanford EA and he's gotten something from them every week and i've heard nada from vassar. email or IM me at curlyq0831@aol.com if you feel like talking about how much next year's gonna rock.
~Rachel~

Hey rachel! Congratulations on being accepted to the greatest college on earth! I have been trying to keep in contact with as many acceptees as possible (so far, this includes two people), so I am trying to build up this list. Any other acceptees who wish to tell their sn's (since virtually everybody seems to have AIM nowadays) please let me know! We all have to meet up with each other once the end of summer comes!

definitely, itd be awesome to actually meet you guys in person since we'll be going to the same school and all. this is so exciting, im talking to my future classmates. yay!

I'll give you guys my AIM if you want it, just PM me, i dont want to leave it on this website.

I'm so excited!! Vassar '09. I have major senioritis too. It's pretty terrible. :-P
Yea, the stanford EA people get stuff because they're not obligated to go to stanford. We're stuck with Vassar so they're just ignoring us for the time being. lol. That's just my hypothesis. Not that i mind. I need to get a Vassar sweatshirt or something... and a car decal. :-)

Yay yay I am so excited (this is Katie by the way). Any of u are welcome to IM if u so desire, I would love it if u did. My sn is HornMnky. I know it sounds REAL bad and all but its an old gag from like 7th grade and i never got around to changing it sigh. I got senioritis too. the only thing i hate is that silly line of the acceptance letter that says "this acceptance is contigent on your academic and personal record continuing" damn I wish they would just tell me how many Bs I can get without them minding.
Now in regards to the Vassar clothing, I was thinking about making my own shirt. I dont know how many of yuo know, but Vassar's ivy league compadre is Yale. And back in like the 70s or sometime Yale asked Vassar if they wanted to become a subsection of Yale (like Harvard did to Radcliffe). Vassar turned them down. I love this story and i tell it to my friend who got into yale all the time. Newho im gonna make a shirt that says "We turned Yale down." on the front and "Vassar Class of 2009" on the back. Feel free to steal the idea.
