yeahh gallatin
i hope everyone here gets in so that we can talk about how lame we were chatting on the college confidential NYU thread most of our senior year. calimarc are you doing ed?

I'm Fiona from Malaysia & i'll be applying ED for CAS (econ & history or journalism) once I get my mock exam slip back...was thinking of Stern econ but screw the parents (hey, at least i'll still be doing something business related in CAS). my SAT score = 1300/1800 = not so good, but I can't sit for another. I'll shoot myself. I'm going to retake for my math II (600) in november...wish me luck!

some teachers actually said that they are too busy and asked me to write my own recommendation & let them sign. the one teacher that did wrote 5 sentences, so I don't know how i'm gonna do this. my "guidance counselor" have never spoken to me before I asked him for a rec. technically, he's not a guidance counselor; he's just in-charge of university brochures. I was asked if NYU is a high school!

^ Haha wow, that's crazy.

I want to go to bed early today so I can't say much. Just wanted to log on and wish everyone good luck on their SATs tomorrow! Last chance, most important day of our pre-NYU lives! It's do or die!

i believe that economics is in CAS, not in Stern. by the way, there's a business studies minor that has both economic and finance related courses for CAS students taking a liberal arts major that is not economics (they did not say no but wont it be a repeat?) but want some business background.

^ well technically there is an econ major over at Stern but what I meant to say was it has something to do with numbers so they're fine with it.

Parents are like this: they tell you they're happy if you're happy doing what you do but when you go off and tell them something out of their little "what my daughter will do" list (e.g. for mine, photography/film, law & medicine but that's post grad so we'll see then), they'll scream no, haha.

ahhh bimachris don't say that! haha
i took the subject tests, and it wasn't pretty :(

I did too. I took Physics and MathII but the only studying I did was last night. And even then, everyone was texting me saying who was at each party and I should be there, so not quality study time.

I didn't do too hot, but not as bad as I had imagined

yeah i took physics, literature, and then math I.
i just hate sitting there for so long!

True that xfiona, especially third world asian parents. It took a while for my parents to accept that I wanted to go into film, they found out by acciedent (I went to a film program in LA, told them it was a science program, hahaha turns it my dad can read english!) Even still, every now and then they talk about how I'm going to starve to death and my life's going to the gutter. It's all good though, cause you know what I'd rather do something that I love and enjoy and fail than being stuck in a high paying job that I hate only to wonder for the rest of my life what would have happened. Of course, I hope and want to succeed though, lol.

SAT I wasn't so bad today. The essay topic was howcompromise isn't always good, which was so much better than that stupid technology essay in May. I think I did okay, better in Math and Writing than last time for sure. Dunno if I got that 750 I wanted in Critical Reading...

Lol haha well rstline33, looks like we survived!

I'm Juliana and I'm applying regular decision to CAS for International Relations. NYU has been my dream since I first went to NYC in 6th grade. I'm also a theater geek and being near Broadway would be awesome as well. I am so nervous about applying, and will probably sit home and cry for a while if I don't get in haha.

Hey Juliana! Nice to see some RD applicants in here!

i decided that the nyu admissions officers should just accept all of us collegeconfidential kids, since we obviously want it bad enough. haha

That's my vote, too!

Welcome Juliana! You're from Boston right? What's it like over there?

Haha they should, CC's been a bigass help to my college search.

Oh I forgot to tell you guys, all NYC kids get their applications fees automatically waived cause NYU wants more native NYC kids since we're "part of the NYU experience". Hahaha I would have gotten a fee waiver anyway but, I'm not complaining! Be jealous. lol jk

^ I am. Lost, slow, confused suburban Midwestern kids are a part of the NYU experience, too!

kcdunlap - oh thats cool. but i'm going to apply regular.

Haha that's another reason why I want to go to NYU. I meet people from all over the country and world. I think less than a third of NYU students actually come from NYC...

SAT IIs were only semi-awful. I took math I, literature, and Biology M. So we'll see.

I submitted the application Sunday and freaked out for a good two hours. I also got this early decision thing in the mail and decided that NYU was a little late with that one - I mailed off the early decision agreement form yesterday. Good luck to everyone with your SAT scores. I know I need it.

I'm reading about how everyone has already submitted their ED application and I'm just starting my personal statements! My school doesn't want to certify my exam certificate translation and asked me to go to a commissioner of oath, gee & seeing all the amazing SAT scores I don't even think that I have a chance (1860!). Maybe my view has been distorted by all the 2000+s here but that's how I feel.

What's worse is that the family & friends are acting like I'm already in and planning their little itinerary when they "come & visit me for Christmas next year & doing cheesy touristy stuff together for new year's!!!!!". Hello, pressure? As if I don't have enough on myself.

bimachris - Precisely. That was one of the reasons why I have always wanted to to NYU. Even though we're already a mix of cultures here but people are so CLOSE MINDED it's not funny. Gah!

rstlne33 - I wish, haha!

Wow good luck Perry. I can't believe you submitted it already, I'm nowhere confident enough to submit mine yet. Probably won't until last minute, haha. I just started sending in my extra stuff like the teacher recs, and transcript, and stuff.

Haha, don't worry Fiona. I'm with you, I can't bear to part with my application yet.

You know what confuses the hell out of me? I see all you international kids and you guys already know english so well. How's that possible? That's crazy! haha
