Class of 2010. Yay.

Yay go class of 2010!

tomjones, just out of curiosity, can you reach around and tell me if theres a stick up your ass?

Hmm, yeah I don't live in a very competitive state and I'd rather go here then another state school because at least I'll have my friends, so it'll be fun. The other state schools are really not much better so I'd rather get a full ride here then pay out of state tuition at another school.

College craziness has officially started. Soo many people went on college visits over spring break and sooo much talk about ACTs/SATs. Plus, the seniors are getting decisions back. When we go back to school tomorrow, everyone's gonna be talking college college colllege college. Yay?

Smile614: I'm going to be visiting Carleton, Macalester, Grinnell, Beloit, and UChicago. In 5 days. Phew. It's the only visit I'm going to be able to make to the Midwest until I get acceptances, though, so I'm trying to squeeze in the ones I really want to see.

For safeties/low matches, I'm thinking Beloit, Knox, Mount Holyoke, maybe a couple of SUNYs, CUNY honors...We'll see. If I like Beloit and get into at least one match/reach EA, I'll probably knock the other safeties off my list unless they give fantastic merit aid.

Ohh that sounds interesting, be sure to report back and tell us how you felt about those schools--especially Carleton and UChicago...I'm really interested in those two!

And I have the same approach with the safeties/low matches. If I get into a match or a reach, I'm gonna get rid of all the other safeties except for the state university.

I really wanted to see UChicago last time I was there, in January. I got to see Northwestern though at least. I'm still not really sure how I feel about it. There wasn't an instant attraction by any means for me.

Yeah, we had a discussion on how gorgeous the UChicago campus is in class today. Hahahah.

Anyways, does anyone here know a lot about this Score Choice thing?
If you use Score Choice, will colleges whether you used score choice or not? How are they gonna control this thing? I mean, wouldn't people get away with sending only some of their scores? It just doesn't seem like such a good idea..

William and Mary :) It all depends on the rest of my scores for the year...I gotta step up. So much stress...so much... ><

I'm hoping it's my only application...but a hope is a hope...and I'm really doubtful...but then again I'm a pessimist, so...

I'll be really upset if I get rejected though, since W&M is the only college I've found that matches me.

I'm gonna put my heart and soul into that application. I don't care if I bleed for it!

I'll be working on it all summer long. Going to get my recommendations the first two weeks of senior year. I'm going to be ready as early as possible.

But, right now, I just got to get through this week...tomorrow is my Junior Trip, Wednesday is a Beta Club Function, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are Beta Convention...god...-bangs head on wall- We need the explode emote...

If worst comes to worst though...I'll be applying to:

1. UVA
2. Longwood
3. Mary Washington
4. JMU
5. GMU
6 Radford

In that order. I hope I don't have to...

Good luck with the rest of junior year Rixs! I think I'm about to explode too. We had some serious discussions, lectures about AP exams today. I had to listen through it like almost every single class...it made me feel really nervous. ...and completely unprepared. Most of my teachers are like yeah, you guys are totally not ready yet. But you will be by the time April is over. That's only one freaking month!!

Hahah about the ED/application thing, I think I'll be applying SCEA to Yale. And I definitely plan on working on that application until it's like...perfect. Until there's not one thing I would like to change about it. I'm gonna have like a million ppl read it and give me feedback and make sure I have no grammar/spelling errors and all that. I'm totally determined to put my best effort into it. It's a huge reach for me..well for everyone and I would just like to know if I have a shot at it.

Anyone know anything about the Score Choice question I posted earlier?

Haha, just really curious. :)

Don't know much about score choice, myself. Won't be using it since I don't plan on sending my SAT scores. That's what the ACT is for. :)

I know the AP feeling, though. Though I'm only in APUSH, we are super behind. We had a week of snow days, a bunch of days cut short...and now...we're getting through 4-chapter units in 2.5 weeks each...It's bad because our grades have significantly dropped because of how fast we're moving. It's hard maintaining my A average while moving so fast...

I've been on the borderline all year long (95-96 all year)

Oh how I can't wait until my Princeton Review arrives in the mail..it was back-ordered ;-;

Then I had the bright idea to self-study AP Eng Lang...I'm so brilliant...>>

Well, Yale said it required applicants to send ALL their scores. Even if they took the ACT. So I don't know how that's gonna work..

Dude, we had a week of snow/ice days too! And we didn't get much done the days we got back to school because tons of people still had no power...haha, good excuse not to get hw done.

Oh boy, I have about 4 chapters to cover in just about all of my AP classes and I'm pretty sure we plan on having those done in the next 2-3 weeks to leave room to review. My grades are dropping so fast that everytime I check them, I have to make sure I'm actually looking at my grades because they're always so different!

95-96 is borderline? My goodness. For what? An A? Oh well, for AP Eng Lang...I'm not doing any preparing for it outside of class. I just don't see how I can STUDY for english..

well guess what folks. Junior year. yeah it sucks that much.

i've lost so much sleep junior year, haha. got only two hours of sleep in before my SAT, and my sleep schedule is nonexistent..
one week of break left for me, then back to school i go. can't wait for senior year (post-apps, of course)..!

I just need to learn the terms and how to write the AP Eng Lang essays. -shrug- But it's still a decent amount to cram in.

Yes, my school grading scale is:

A 95+
B 88-94
C 81-87
D 75-80
F <74

And yes, it is very hard to maintain straight A's.

@xprincessxjamie: yeaaah but at least by then we won't have to worry as much! senior spring..i can't wait. :D

have to get through this year's APs and next fall's apps first though..blegh.

I can already feel the senioritis. Ughhh. Sooo overwhelmed! I, like many of the posts on here, am tired of high school. It's time for a new chapter!

@Rixs
My APUSH teacher decided to "take it slow" in the beginning. Since we're on a block schedule (the class started in August, ended in December), we ended up not even starting the last few units! Towards the end, we were doing a chapter every two days. That means tests every two days. It was a hard schedule, and I feel like I learned very little.

^Yep, my teacher decided to do that for AP Human Geo. Luckily, I could care less about learning in class since I just learn most of it by myself. It still makes cramming for tests really hard because it's basically notes, notes, test. notes, notes, test with like 1 day b/w the notes and the test..

Wooow. that's a crazy grading scale! Our A is from 90-100. In AP classes, it's pretty hard to get 95+ though but it doesnt really matter since no matter how high it is..it's still an A.

Ahhh I'm SO excited for senior year. I'm pretty sure junior year is gonna be the hardest. For me, at least. I plan to get a good head start on those college apps so hopefully senior year won't be as hectic academically..
We start planning senior year schedules like tomorrow! Still not sure what I should take...

HEY. guys. question.

If I take a study hall or teachers aid (help a teacher..but really, most ppl just do their hw haha) would that look like I'm slacking off? I'm probably gonna take 5 APs and Spanish...but this year, I'm in 6 APs so I don't want it to seem like I'm slacking. It would just be nice to have a free period to relax..and if I take a free period, then I can actually take a harder AP that I'm more interested in..
