Class of 2011...check in here:

I believe most of you had to make your decisions by now so who is in the class of 2011???

Welcome Redsk...rrr...Redhawks!!!
:)

D has enrolled. She is officially a double major music performance and linguistics, but the linguistics is iffy. Her second major will most likely have something to do with languages - she just isn't sure yet.

Congrats to your D again. I'm always so excited to see the Miami family grow.

I also want to encourage those of you that are comfortable doing so, going to the stats profile section (see upper left) and completing what you are comfortable doing. This is a really valuable tool for the hs students coming up and getting ready to apply.

Thanks!

Anybody is in DAP at Miami - Dual Admission Program with UC College of Medicine?

D has enrolled, thinking about Zoology as a major (although right now she is undecided.) Also thinking about doing Marching Band - she met a LOT of her friends in HS that way. We have yet to do the June orientation info. - she's been busy with softball, etc., got to get busy on that!

Posted this before, but figured I should add to this thread.

Son is going to MU in the Fall, University Honors, living in Tappan Hall. Plans to do Marching Band and one or more concert groups. He is on the fence between Zoology (for Veterinary Medicine) or International Relations\History (Intelligence Analysis/College Professor).

I told him to not stress out about the major -- he will get lots of help from faculty and others, and many, many end up getting a degree in a field vastly different than their first objective.

Going to Orientation June 8/9.

Jeff

My D. is also in University Honors. She will do Zoology as a Pre-med. She is in Dual Admission Program with UC College of Med. How do you know that your son will be in Tappan? Isn't Tappan for girls? D. has signed up for Honors dorms, we were hoping that it is Tappan. Going to Orientation June 11/12. We are in Toledo, OH.

I am officially a Miami University student, honors dorms which are in Tappan and possible overflow in Emerson, I am hoping for Tappan. I am Zoology for either pre med or research, havent' quite decided, but that is what college is for, right? I can't wait to start, I am going to orientation on June 7-8.

Congrats inomni-
Just an FYI, Tappan & Emerson are almost identical and IMHO the nicest dorms on campus so you are good either way!
Have a ball!!!

so honors and scholars are separated into emerson and tappan?

D is going to Miami and majoring in poly sci. She will attend the June 12-13 orientation. She is very excited for this chapter in her life.

No, they are not separated, but the Honors Rep told me that because so many people were choosing to live in the honors, they are probably going to extend the dorms into Emerson. So most likely, Tappan and Emerson will have both honors and scholars students mixed.

Does anybody know this about housing: My D is one of many who apparently signed up for honors housing. First, do you know if kids generally get their first choice? Second, is preference given to Honors kids (capital H) over Oxford Scholars?

We just signed up for June 21/22 orientation. Looks like everybody here is going sooner than that.

binx, we signed up for June 21/22 orientation tonight. D picked the Arts dorm as 1st choice.

Arts was my D's second choice. Since she's a music major, I didn't really want her there - I'm afraid of it being too much of a good thing! (But, she's going, not me. :) )

Maybe we'll see you there in June!

My D fell in love with MU on her first visit which was after she had been accepted. She will attend majoring in Architecture. She is an Oxford Scholar and hopes to live in Emerson.

Orientation June 21-22

Wow - three of us with D's, all going Jun 21-22! Maybe we'll see each other there.

My son is going to orientation on June 22-23. He's a mechanical engineering major and hopefully will live in Emerson as he's an Oxford Scholar.

I've been reading these boards forever, but just wanted to drop a line welcoming everyone to miami. I just finished my junior year so if any of you have any questions about anything I'll be glad to answer them.

Welcome to the Miami section! Or as my H refers to it "the Miami Recruiting and Propaganda Pages" LOL!!! (he also wants to know what they do to us to make the alumni so rabidly happy about their alma mater - I tell him it is just a great school) :)

Seriously Corbis11 -
Tell us a little bit more about your experience there. What is your major, what ECs are you into, what you like best, etc... what's up after you graduate next year?
