Class of 2012? Anybody? Anybody?

I know it's very premature for some people...and there probably won't be a lot...but are there any sophomores in the house?

I'm not one of those crazy I-need-to-go-Ivy people. Not at all. I have sisters that are 5 and 7 1/2 years older than me so a college search is something that's always fascinated me. I started putting Post-Its in a Fiske Guide in eighth grade. I just love looking towards what I hope will be a bright and fulfilling future. =) Anyone else? What's going on?

Pshh, that’s cause you haven’t experienced junior year yet. That’s when you’ll realize that college might just not be for you.

Lol, I’m just kidding ;). I discovered college confidential as a sophomore too (but in Feb), so it’s cool.

Senior now lol. And I’m ridiculously jaded to this whole process.

Don’t forget the impact of studying lol. Don’t start daydreaming about colleges when you’ve still got exams to study for and essays to work on.

haha I came here late sophomore year (after AP’s)

My advice is to relax…do what you enjoy. If you pursue your interests, you’ll be ready when college apps roll around. And if you plan on studying for the SAT, the CC forums are actually pretty informative.

Don’t be scared about junior year. I’m loving it so far. Calc BC is the first math class I’ve enjoyed.

Hey!

I’m a Sophomore too!!! I agree, I’m not a crazy, need-to-go-to-Ivy person either… I just am fascinated by the idea of searching for colleges and college preparations, etc. I know it sounds kind of crazy, but I’m pretty excited to take my SATs and Subject Tests (AP Exams too!). Ik, that sounds crazy.

Raises hand - yup, 2012 :)

Nothing much here - I doubt I even have the credentials to make it to an Ivy - state university seems probable.
I’m just taking it step at a time and trying to not to kill myself in the process lol. I’m just trying make the most (and make it through) these 4 years.

Me too!

And if anyone remembers what kind of responses the class of 2012 thread used to generate, I think it is finally time to let them go. ;)

I created multiple 2012 threads. PLEASE don’t flame this one. I discovered CC in 8th grade.
2012 wins. Whoever tagged this thread is a noob.

I’m a 2012’er.

I discovered CC halfway through 9th grade. I used to be obsessed, but now I just don’t really care anymore. Ironically, CC helped jade my interest.

Someone should make a 2013 thread so I can go flame it :]

Lol, are there any of those people on here?

There used to be a few. I think they’re just lurking right now.

Hi Hims. And other freshies :P

See? They waved. They’re just too afraid to post.

My wave is working now btw.
: ]

Uncanny timing. Mine isn’t :[

Well actually it is. I’m just immobile so I can only use my mom’s laptop. And she only has IE which is incompatible with Google Wave.

So, what are your guys’s AP plans?

Mine will probably go-
Frosh- Nothing
Soph- World, possibly self-study Human Geography?
Junior- APUSH, English comp
Senior- French, English lit, Calc AB, Psych and/or Comparative Politics?

Don’t self-study Human Geo unless you’re really passionate about it. You won’t get AP credit for it at selective colleges and you certainly won’t look any smarter on your app.

Freshmen - APUSH (don’t ask - I didn’t even sign up for the class, but it was on my schedule. I’m almost done with history credits :))
Sophomore - AP US Gov & Politics, AP Biology
Junior - AP Chemistry (it’s written in stone), AP Psychology, AP Stats, AP Art History (idk), AP (I have no idea),
Senior - AP Calc AB/BC, AP Eng. Lit, AP Physics C (that’s a HUGE maybe), and a self-study

I haven’t put too much thought into Junior/Senior year yet and a lot of the older teachers (who are all amazing) are retiring or getting sick. I think we lost like 4 teachers last year (1 unfortunately passed away) and I’m not too crazy about the replacements.

Wow xx, you’re going to take 12 AP classes?

Whoa … I didn’t even realize that. I just started listing them randomly lol.

More than likely, it’s probably gonna be less than 12 (wayy less) but the course-load in my school is horrific for APs.

Freshman: Self study: AP biology, ap microecon, ap macroecon, ap psych, ap envsci.

Sophomore classes: AP chem, ap physics, ap calc bc, ap world history. ap stats self study?
Junior: College classes (organic chemistry/biochem/multivar/etc. college us history/etc. idk.)
Senior: College classes (molcellbio/etc. whatever stuff lol.)

so what ECs are you guys doing?
and dam you OP. you stole my opportunity to make a successful 2012 thread. dam you and your timing. :P

Wow - you took all those as a freshman (and sophomore)?! And there I was wallowing in self-pity that I had it bad with APUSH last year lol.

^advanced…that’s an intense schedule
