The pool was much stronger this year (http://tech.caltech.edu/Tech2.0/12_10_2007/article1.html), so maybe you can have that consolation?

Anyhow prefrosh, you can bug me on here in a topic, via a PM, or whatnot if you want to know all about 1st term of frosh year... I'm sure there's similar people in similar years (or alumni, and yes, right after this post Ben Golub should just appear, magically), who can also answer your questions.

@sonofsam,
the site you quote: http://tech.caltech.edu/Tech2.0/12_1...article1.html does not work. We (my D applied) are still waiting for the letter (it did not reach here on Friday). How many people applied EA and how many were offered EA acceptance?

Ya, i used natk4 for the first 2 posts teh acceptance letter is a packet really, main letter is easy to find though. They're even nice enough to tell you you're accepted in teh first sentence.

My stats that I can remember:

SAT I: Math 780, Reading 760, Writing 650
SATII: MathII 800, Physics 790, Chemistry 710

I live in Berlin Germany and take the IB. If you want to know anything else just ask.

And good luck everyone. Especially if you've been defeered.

Finally congrats emb and anyone else whose been accepted.

but was the letter bigger than a normal envelope size?

I'm overseas i got it FedExed on the 12th

I dont know but i can tell you mine was about 10 pages thick considering the hard cover.

@ susan4

I dont know if it affects the acceptance rate but apparently there was a larger pool this year.

thekonkoe, did you have any special ECs? How were your essays?
and wow on living in Germany! That's amazing! You got in as an international.

Guess I'll prepare to expect my defer or reject letter this afternoon

Congrats to thekonkoe, emb and anotherparent (anotherparent's post about his Son's good news is at the end of page 3 of this thread). Is caltech your first choice? I am amazed with students' stats at Caltech. Any of you accepted students willing to tell a little bit about your ECs and awards?
